  1. You mean like 1996 where Olerud looked absolutely hopeless against lefties and had an OPS over 200 points lower than Brumfield?
  2. Seattle continues to be the place where hitters go to die, no matter who they add. The new guys sometimes hit for a while, but then they crater. They lead the league in strikeouts yet again (by a substantial margin) and even guys like J-Rod are getting progressively worse every year.
  3. I'm a little surprised that Kikuchi got a way better return than Flaherty. I guess last year's post-deadline flop tanked his value a bit.
  4. Looks awfully accurate. I'm pleased with the return for IKF and they also got under the tax.
  5. I like this deal. None of them are can't miss guys, but we'll have an opportunity to give Bloss and Loperfido some major league reps and see what happens. Maybe the latter can replicate Teoscar Hernandez's success from a similar trade. Next, I'd like to see KK moved to a contender and Richards moved to make room for a young reliever. We can also entertain offers on Chad Green and IKF if we get something nice.
  6. https://toronto.ctvnews.ca/mobile/toronto-least-liked-canadian-city-poll-finds-1.724027?referrer=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.com%2F I'm just a regular Canadian in that regard. I love the Blue Jays as much as anyone, but it's universally regarded as the worst place to be in the nation.
  7. I guess if you live in Toronto that would seem better as well. Nobody outside of the city will want anything to do with it, but I guess that'sthe point. I don't know if this kind of thing is the best route for a team that gets the majority of it's revenue from outside of the city and resides in the least liked city in the nation. That's why they always push a lot of the maple leaf stuff that people in Toronto hate. That being said, the impact is probably negligible and MLB certainly made them do it.
  8. The whole concept has been a mess from the start and that's no different with the Blue Jays. Hopefully they end the failed experiment after this season.
  9. You wouldn't just start cheating after throwing a no hitter. Too bad we didn't spot it.
  10. He's having a heck of a season so far. Pretty much striking out everyone. It will be interesting to see if he can keep it up at higher levels. Maybe a new David Wells?
  11. Have you guys been following Tugboat Wilkinson in the Guardians system? Cool story and Canadian too.
  12. Probably Turner, Garcia, and Richards for sure. I'm sure they would move KK if possible. Kikuchi and Jansen they may want to keep around, but we'll see. Guerrero Jr. and Green are under control next year, but would make some sense to move.
  13. First time watching Rodriguez and he looks like a legit SP option for the long term. That's a really positive development for this team. Nice to see KK get going a bit too!
  14. That's correct and I mostly agree. However, I do see a lot of people who either don't know that the original statement exists, or are ignoring it.
  15. I have read that Ohtani's agent is person that gave the information to the spokesperson. There's a lot of conflicting information out there, so please correct me if that's wrong. If the information came from Ohtani himself, it's even more damning. Without more information, I refuse to believe that the spokesperson simply fabricated the story.
  16. I think you answered the question yourself. The lawyers crafted a story to help him get out of his situation. You really believe that is the true story? I don't. The initial explanation from his agent would seem to be far more authentic. Why would he lie at that point? Sure, it's plausible that Mizuhara had access to the bank accounts, but that doesn't really matter if you believe the initial explanation. I really can't get over that hurdle. Ohtani's primary representative, his agent, knew about the gambling debts, the payments that Ohtani made, and he told us. It's right there, they told us the truth right off the top. I've never seen a situation like this where people believe the backpedaling, without any evidence to support it.
  17. It was already explained right off the top. Ohtani knew about the gambling debts and paid them off for him. Your agent doesn't just come out and say that without knowing something. To believe the lawyer crafted second story strikes me as a little naive. Ohtani himself lied to the media about a fan interaction a couple of weeks later. It's not as if he deserves any benefit of the doubt.
  18. What an extraordinarily fortunate inning for Seattle. Too bad.
  19. Gilbert pretty rattled by that single. Come on Vlad!
  20. Nothing like some Seattle hitting to cure our pitching issues.
  21. Brace yourselves guys.... Julian Merryweather is injured.
  22. "Here's to feeling good all the time"
  23. I can't really accept that a translator for a $700 million man can't do their job properly. As someone else said, he doesn't really get the benefit of the doubt after being caught laying to the media/fans such a short time ago.
  24. The part that stuck out to me was Ohtani lying about meeting with her in his postgame interview.
  25. https://www.si.com/mlb/2024/04/04/shohei-ohtani-first-dodgers-homer-fan-disappointed-treatment Ohtani caught lying again, this time about meeting with fans.
