    His spokesperson literally came out right at the beginning and said that this wasn't the case. Then the story changed once the lawyers got involved. He was aware of the betting and aware this his money was being used for it. That much is abundantly clear. We can't really infer a whole lot more.

    His spokesperson came out and said that right from the start. He knew a out rhe gambling debts and paid them off for his friend. Are we to believe that the spokesperson fabricated this information and he actually knew nothing about it? He certainly doesn't respect the intellect of his fans.

    One would assume it's the guy that his friend owes 4.5 million dollars. I'm not ready to read a ton into this, but it's foolish to just dismiss it put of hand as well. A bet that large in one single town with one particular bookie can't be that common.

I don't know that there's any fire, but there's an awful lot of smoke.

    Ohtani's true character is really being exposed this offseason. Obviously we all know he's an absolute piece of s*** human being based on the way he handled his contract negotiations, but this brings it to a whole new level. Both sides came out and said that he was aware that the money was to cover gambling debts and then both sides came out and said he knew nothing about it. Does anyone actually buy that? What a PR disaster.

    In fairness, the team is far more represented by the country than the city. Being unique is really cool. I love it as a Jays fan.

    I'm still shocked that Cito Gaston didn't get in, especially with the recent push to honour more African Americans. He gets a bit of the Bonds treatment due to his poor relationship with the media despite an easily HOF calibre career.

    Cool story: I was in Cuba for the last 10 days and I told some local friends how much I love baseball. They took me to Matanzas for the finals of the Cuban National Series. We were talking about Yariel Rodriguez and how cool it would be if they signed him, as he's from nearby Camaguey. Sure enough, we get back to wifi and the Jays had signed him. I gave them all my old Blue Jays shirts before I left and now they are big fans. Even the poor families have a TV and follow MLB. It was a great experience.
