  1. Lol at "Your an idiot"
  2. Like it or not, some sense of comradery is beneficial within a clubhouse. Vetrin presents isn't everything, but I do think many on this board undervalue the effect that it can have. Having your teammates dip out in the last few weeks of the season surely doesn't leave a good taste in the mouths of everyone else who stuck through. Now its different if these guys were instructed to leave to do rehab elsewhere, but I highly doubt they ALL were.
  3. Do you guys think EE is gonna stay in the lineup or are they going to shut him down? I'm not sure whether to play him or sit him in the final week of fantasy! I have Yelich and Swisher to replace him if I need to.
  4. I don't think you can feasibly have Yunel and Reyes on the same team. Either AA gave up Yunel and got Reyes, or each player stays on the same team during that trade.
  5. Only logical thing to do!
  6. Jimenez isn't much more than a third piece in a big trade, IMO. I do think that he is one of our most underrated prospects positional value wise.
  7. I said this earlier in the thread. That if we are able to get a SP and C that cheaping out on a 1-2 million dollar 2B is literally suicide. It gets a little tiresome reading everyone ripping on the guys who stand behind Goins, for whatever reason, when its apparent that our biggest hole is at C. By far and wide. Even if AA only made one move the whole offseason (rather than bolstering the pen, which he'll inevitably do), I'd hope that he realizes that JPA is an incompetent MLB player and replaces him.
  8. We'll add a marginal upgrade at 2B, sign a bunch of washed up SP's to minor league contracts hoping to catch lightning. Have JPA behind the dish. Wash, rinse, repeat.
  9. He's already f***ed it up. Who do we have to make massive upgrades to this team? Stroman and Hutch? These have to be the guys who hold the only true weight in trade value. Unless we're trading for Bruce Chen, I doubt the farm allows us to make any big acquisition. Still interested in whether you'd roll with New C/SP/Goins or new 2B/SP/JPA ? Edit: Forgot Sanchez, thanks BTS
  10. Completely agree. Will this happen? I highly doubt it.
  11. Unless AA finds and exploits another CBA inefficiency, odds are he has no choice but to improve some of the team from within. The farm needs to be rebuilt, not ripped apart again this summer. We have marginal expendable pieces at the big league level, and hardly any of them hold any trade value (Rasmus), and our payroll is already pushing 140. We are the Phillies, not the Dodgers. So expecting upgrades all over the diamond is foolish.
  12. That's because Izturis is literally having one of the worst seasons of all time by WAR standards. Regression to the mean. Nobody can expect 2B to be this bad again this year, even if we rolled with the same trio. What most guys are getting at is that realistically, we won't, not that we shouldn't, address everything. I'd feel a lot more comfortable with a new catcher, SP and Goins/Izturis/Kawa, dont really give a f*** which of those three it is, than keeping Arencibia, signing a SP and a guy like Kelly Johnson to play second. Interested to hear your take. Which situation would you prefer to see?
  13. Depends how deep the pockets get this offseason. We all know that in order to compete they will have to get deeper, but whether or not they will is a different question. And I guess if Rogers does spend more (ie bringing in a catcher and a SP), not spending 2-3 mil on a 1-2 WAR 2B seems completely absurd.
  14. AA needs to improve the team however he can, wherever he can. I think most posters here are saying that if we make upgrades at C and SP that living with Ryan Goins at 2B isn't the worst thing in the world. Realistically, we are not going to add a C, 2B, and two SP's this offseason, but if we crossed two of those off the list by adding a Ruiz and a couple of pitchers, Goins could work. Let me ask this. Would you guys rather see AA sign a McCann and a starting pitcher, and go with Goins at second, OR sign Infante and a starter and go with JPA behind the dish?
  15. No excuse for Rajai to not be on second right now
  16. One of the few bright spots this year. He's really become one of the game's best rounded hitters. Thanks for the post.
  17. Have fun! Definitely something on my bucket list.
  18. Lawrie's unwillingness is probably a more accurate guess. Call me crazy, but I wouldn't be surprised if DeRosa has made quite an influence on him lately. SSS sure, but his AB's have looked so much better.
  19. You're exactly right. From all my experiences, movement just makes hitting more difficult. It works for some guys, after years and years of repetition. Just a quick YouTube search of videos to refresh my memory, shows a lot less movement when he first came up. I don't know what influenced all this extra movement. It seems like its causing him to get around balls, rather than on top of them.
  20. His hands have seemed to have quieted down considerably, which I think was part of the reason he had trouble barreling up baseballs. He's also staying on the outside pitch very well, which is a step in the right direction for him.
