    Not the MLB per se, but the Jays I was referring to. If Darvish is worth 110, I'm assuming we will see roughly the same for Tanaka (because of hype, and Darvish's success). 5/75?

    That's easy to do when you're one of the best franchises in the MLB. I'm sure it wouldn't have been that easy for AA to lure Ellis here. I'm not disagreeing he should've been a target, but this isn't takeout where you just call and order what you want and pick it up.

    Sadly, probably true. FFS if he can't add one #2 at least, there is virtually no point in trying to compete. Blow it up. I have confidence in a guy like Hutch, but who knows how many innings he can realistically throw. Until I see Drabek throw strikes at the ML level I see no reason to believe he can start, Morrow is glass and Happ is Happ. Watch our pen get taxed this year, and all of our ace relievers get injured because of the workload.

    Does this give the Jays a better chance? It seemed evident AA would never put an aggressive posting bid in, but now that it's only 20 million to negotiate, he should be inclined to at least bid that and give himself a chance. Teams that are close to the luxury tax may shy away, since I'm assuming a larger AAV will be given to players. Probably just all wishful thinking on my part.

    Agreed. I know people who travelled 5 hours to go to Saskatoon or Winnipeg last year just for this.

    Wouldn't it be a lot easier for teams to make adjustments when they see a knuckleballer twice in the same series? Not that it would happen every series, but every third or fourth one it would (I just took a final, don't give a s*** about figuring out the math). Remember last year, when the biggest problem this time was figuring out what order our rotation was going to be? Knuckleballer, POWER, soft, POWER, whoever. Oh the good ol days.

    Ellis please. Seems to be the most realistic option. What could AA possibly be waiting for? If our biggest acquisition this winter is Navarro this team will be a f***ing disaster.

    Best part of this video is the reporter says spring training is a few weeks away. Then the reporter asks Rajai when his juices started flowing for the upcoming season. Rajai replies with the juices started flowing a couple days ago, when he picked up a bat. Said he remembers how to hold it. Uh, shouldn't you have been hitting most of the offseason, not two weeks before ST? Love the guy, hope he does well in DET.

    He could engage in threads like this! mac33 Posts:1987 LAD would like to move one of their OF players for some pitching. We have surplus pitching to use and I wonder if there is a deal here. Puig will be an impact player for years to come and we could move Bautista to LF. Start with Cecil, Redmond and Drabek.

    Regardless of what fWAR says about Maicer vs. JPA, I think he's already addressed the biggest hole at C. WAR is a great stat, but can't theoretically encompass everything, and catcher no doubt had to be addressed before anything. Just because JPA posted a higher (negative) WAR, doesn't mean he wasn't our biggest hole, IMO. Anyone remember the game against the O's early in the year when I think it was Roberts (?) slapped a ball to LF in the bottom of the 9th to walk off? That's just one instance that sticks out in my mind of either a) JPA not knowing how to call a game pitchers not having faith in him to dirt a curveball, or a combination of both.

    I don't think he can really come out and say he's not comfortable with these two without destroying whatever minuscule amount of value Goins may have, or admitting to the media his Izzy signing failed. Like Brenner said, he's just covering his ass in case he can't improve 2B.

    I've thought this as well. I'm not going to pretend to know for sure, but I would have to think someone like Miller/Wacha would be more sought after than someone like Myers/OT, no? The Cards just have SO much young talent.

    Nope, from Saskatchewan. The butt of many jokes I read on here haha. I don't care what anyone says, watching the Riders win the Grey Cup at home, at Mosaic was an incredible sight!
