  1. True. Even so, turning him into rotation depth would be okay. Guy just can't seem to stay healthy.
  2. Turning Santos into a starter would've been nice
  3. He could engage in threads like this! mac33 Posts:1987 LAD would like to move one of their OF players for some pitching. We have surplus pitching to use and I wonder if there is a deal here. Puig will be an impact player for years to come and we could move Bautista to LF. Start with Cecil, Redmond and Drabek.
  4. Regardless of what fWAR says about Maicer vs. JPA, I think he's already addressed the biggest hole at C. WAR is a great stat, but can't theoretically encompass everything, and catcher no doubt had to be addressed before anything. Just because JPA posted a higher (negative) WAR, doesn't mean he wasn't our biggest hole, IMO. Anyone remember the game against the O's early in the year when I think it was Roberts (?) slapped a ball to LF in the bottom of the 9th to walk off? That's just one instance that sticks out in my mind of either a) JPA not knowing how to call a game pitchers not having faith in him to dirt a curveball, or a combination of both.
  5. I don't think he can really come out and say he's not comfortable with these two without destroying whatever minuscule amount of value Goins may have, or admitting to the media his Izzy signing failed. Like Brenner said, he's just covering his ass in case he can't improve 2B.
  6. I've thought this as well. I'm not going to pretend to know for sure, but I would have to think someone like Miller/Wacha would be more sought after than someone like Myers/OT, no? The Cards just have SO much young talent.
  7. Fun read to keep me from studying, thanks! Personal favourite: Arencibia What Happened to the Player in 2013: Quit Twitter in the midst of an historically awful season for a player handed so many at-bats*. Got into a war of words with Gregg Zaun. Non-tendered. * I’d say “plate appearances,” but since he doesn’t walk, what’s the difference?
  8. That's why people are indicating they'd be comfortable with additions to the starting rotation, Robert.
  9. Would someone be able to explain, or post that link that explains the ~9M/win in FA concept?
  10. Nope, from Saskatchewan. The butt of many jokes I read on here haha. I don't care what anyone says, watching the Riders win the Grey Cup at home, at Mosaic was an incredible sight!
  11. Neither do I. I guess they could always flip him, or one of their OF's for prospects. Seems like a Rays move to me.
  12. Haha I'm not sure where you're talking about Spanky, never played there!
  13. I mean in terms of the Rays trading for a 2B. They resigned Dejesus, and have Jennings, Myers and Joyce.
  14. What about Zobrist?
  15. Agreed, Spanky. I've played baseball all my life and I'm just finishing up my last year of University baseball. I've always been grateful that we have guys who continue to ump us, because they enjoy it, not for the money. I don't care what the circumstances were in that game, that is one of the most cowardly acts in sports possible.
  16. This. Anything less than pro ball should be thankful to have guys like him who take the time to umpire games. It's not like they're making a ton of coin.
  17. Rangers Moving Toward Deal With J.P. Arencibia By Charlie Wilmoth [December 5 at 10:45pm CST] Catcher J.P. Arencibia and the Rangers are moving in the direction of striking a deal, FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal writes (on Twitter). The Rangers reportedly were close to trading for Arencibia before the Blue Jays non-tendered him. Earlier this week, MLB.com's T.R. Sullivan reported that the Rangers would have been willing to make the trade if Arencibia had agreed to a contract that would have avoided arbitration. MLBTR estimated that Arencibia would have made $2.8MM in the arbitration process, so his deal with the Rangers, assuming it happens, will likely be for less than that. Arencibia will presumably back up Geovany Soto in Texas. Arencibia hit just .194/.227/.365 in 2013 and is unlikely to ever hit for much of an average, but with his power, he can be effective if he bats above .215 or so, as he did in 2011 and 2012. He has 62 home runs in the past three seasons, and hitting in Arlington should help him add to that total. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2013/12/rangers-moving-toward-deal-with-jp-arencibia.html
  18. I can't believe money is this much of an option to a guy like Cano to consider the Mariners as opposed to going back to NY. Pitchers park, lousy team aside from a few assets. It really just blows my mid.
  19. Please please please AA, hold onto Sanchez.
  20. If the fat greek trades Bautista for anything but a young controllable starter or prospects it's probably an epic fail. No need to trade a guy with as much value as Bautista for just another expensive contract.
  21. Looks clean and repeatable. Minimal effort, looks as if he hides the ball well. Seems to jump on batters. Am I the only one who sees a short stride?
  22. I'm surprised it's so close Sanchez
