    Agreed, Spanky. I've played baseball all my life and I'm just finishing up my last year of University baseball. I've always been grateful that we have guys who continue to ump us, because they enjoy it, not for the money. I don't care what the circumstances were in that game, that is one of the most cowardly acts in sports possible.

    Rangers Moving Toward Deal With J.P. Arencibia By Charlie Wilmoth [December 5 at 10:45pm CST] Catcher J.P. Arencibia and the Rangers are moving in the direction of striking a deal, FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal writes (on Twitter). The Rangers reportedly were close to trading for Arencibia before the Blue Jays non-tendered him. Earlier this week, MLB.com's T.R. Sullivan reported that the Rangers would have been willing to make the trade if Arencibia had agreed to a contract that would have avoided arbitration. MLBTR estimated that Arencibia would have made $2.8MM in the arbitration process, so his deal with the Rangers, assuming it happens, will likely be for less than that. Arencibia will presumably back up Geovany Soto in Texas. Arencibia hit just .194/.227/.365 in 2013 and is unlikely to ever hit for much of an average, but with his power, he can be effective if he bats above .215 or so, as he did in 2011 and 2012.     I can't believe money is this much of an option to a guy like Cano to consider the Mariners as opposed to going back to NY. Pitchers park, lousy team aside from a few assets. It really just blows my mid.

    If the fat greek trades Bautista for anything but a young controllable starter or prospects it's probably an epic fail. No need to trade a guy with as much value as Bautista for just another expensive contract.

    Like it or not, some sense of comradery is beneficial within a clubhouse. Vetrin presents isn't everything, but I do think many on this board undervalue the effect that it can have. Having your teammates dip out in the last few weeks of the season surely doesn't leave a good taste in the mouths of everyone else who stuck through. Now its different if these guys were instructed to leave to do rehab elsewhere, but I highly doubt they ALL were.

    Do you guys think EE is gonna stay in the lineup or are they going to shut him down? I'm not sure whether to play him or sit him in the final week of fantasy! I have Yelich and Swisher to replace him if I need to.

    I don't think you can feasibly have Yunel and Reyes on the same team. Either AA gave up Yunel and got Reyes, or each player stays on the same team during that trade.

    Jimenez isn't much more than a third piece in a big trade, IMO. I do think that he is one of our most underrated prospects positional value wise.

    I said this earlier in the thread. That if we are able to get a SP and C that cheaping out on a 1-2 million dollar 2B is literally suicide. It gets a little tiresome reading everyone ripping on the guys who stand behind Goins, for whatever reason, when its apparent that our biggest hole is at C. By far and wide. Even if AA only made one move the whole offseason (rather than bolstering the pen, which he'll inevitably do), I'd hope that he realizes that JPA is an incompetent MLB player and replaces him.

    We'll add a marginal upgrade at 2B, sign a bunch of washed up SP's to minor league contracts hoping to catch lightning. Have JPA behind the dish. Wash, rinse, repeat.
