  1. Seem to remember this from years past on the old board. Since I didn't see it up yet, I thought I'd start it just for fun! Who will have the first: Hit: Double: Triple: HR: Walk: RBI: SB: Win: Loss: Error: Feel free to add anything else
  2. Why not Vancouver? From my playing experiences, BC is one of Canada's premier baseball hubs.
  3. Believe it or not, that's not the be all end all in baseball.
  4. You and King really aren't very inviting to new members. You two should take a lesson from fatcow. Your arrogance on a baseball message board is really quite sad. Might be a few beers deep but IDFAF
  5. Out of curiosity, do you guys think EE is as highly regarded around the league as he is by the saber community? I think it's a pretty common theme here that we all view him as "elite", but do the rest of the league's front offices too (save for Tampa). Not only that, but when do we expect to see an EE decline? Someone like JFaS should be able to answer this accurately. If we could infuse the ML roster with young, ML ready talent, does it make sense to keep EE around to DH? Disclaimer: I know there are many variables such as he theoretically should bring in the biggest haul (if he's valued correctly across the league), that he might be looking for his big pay day, etc. Just trying to get a feel for everyone else's opinions.
  6. LAST SEASON, KINSLER says, the Rangers didn't feel like his team anymore. It had been two years since the club won 96 games with Josh Hamilton, C.J. Wilson and Michael Young, one of Kinsler's closest friends. Young, the franchise's career leader in games played, hits, runs, doubles, triples and total bases, was dealt to Philadelphia in December 2012. "It hurt us," Kinsler says. "He held everything together." The Young trade was, in Kinsler's view, a misguided move that left a leadership void in the clubhouse. ------ I know many will disagree, but to me this is still an important part of building a team. Pencil pushers will disagree, and thats fine. But the game is still played between the lines.
  7. All things equal, and each player is playing at a 4 WAR level, give me the guy with quiet confidence. He is the one who people will follow. Actions speak louder than words.
  8. Not quite sure why you play the victim card so often, when you're the one who initiates such action with response like that. For one, they were shockingly cheap, and I don't think anyone ever said a bad word about any of those contracts (IIRC, many thought even Melky would be able to provide value on that contract, and still can). Maybe the deals were a bit of a gamble, but they were still well below market value.
  9. I wouldn't exactly call last year's infusion of contracts penny pinching.
  10. I'd be fairly confident in saying a mass majority of anyone who is currently a "fan" of the Jays knows who VW is.
  11. Might as well just sign Jimenez now
  12. Why would that be? Seems civil.
  13. Tell us more...
  14. If you're referring to beef, this isn't true.
  15. It was a bow. The United States (or Canada for that matter) don't just permit anyone to go out and shoot anything they want. Sometimes, predator populations become too extreme and pose risks to the numbers of other animals like deer, or the safety of nearby communities. Jumping to conclusions isn't really a good idea in any situation.
  16. I guess if you truly believe that Aaron Sanchez will become a legitimate #2 in a quality rotation, it's not a good idea. I can't help but think that landing Shark with an extension for Sanchez plus a lower level B prospect would help propel this rotation. Look, I get it. I don't like the direction this team is headed in either. I'd rather blow it up and take on prospects too for guys like Bautista, Reyes and Edwin. I just don't see AA going the Miami Marlins route a year and a half after he was on the other end of the deal. Shark, along with healthy years from the entire staff and position players, and I do believe the team is close. Also, Sanchez for Shark is nowhere near the same as Wil Myers for Shields, or the raping he'll give another team when he trades Price.
  17. Not sure what you've been reading, but its not all doom and gloom in the farm system.
  18. I thought the job of a competent GM was to upgrade the team?
  19. I'm not against acquiring him. If the price was Sanchez + a lesser piece I think it would be worth it. Realistically, if Sanchez became what Shark is, most people would be ecstatic. He shouldn't be considered depth either, as the only innings he should throw would be in September. Keep Stroman, he's viable depth. Dickey Shark Morrow Mark Happ Stroman Hutch Rogers It's realistic, and about as best as we're going to do IMO.
  20. Great, out depth can lead us out of the bottom of the AL East! All I'm saying is all the depth in the world doesn't matter if it isn't supplemented properly. Guys like Romero and Drabek are hardly depth, and if we're counting on Richmond to step in when Morrow goes down, we're in very big trouble. Yes, I realize everything is hypothetical. But if we were the Red Sox, everyone would be sitting here bashing their rotation, talking about what shambles it's in, and how they have no depth. I'm just playing devil's advocate.
  21. Realistically, would you be comfortable on betting on him to provide 180 innings?
  22. Depth means f*** all if the starting 5 aren't very good. I'm expecting a rebound year from Dickey, Mark B to do his same old thing, and other than that there are 3 other spots to fill. Not sure about you, but all the depth in the world doesn't save a rotation like that.
