    The majority of baseball fans still use slash line, almost exclusively. Only now is WAR starting to become somewhat mainstream. I'm sure he's aware of how stats like wOBA or wRC+ are more accurate indicators of offensive contribution. Tldr; you're nitpicking.

    Can we f***ing not start the year with 20 year old Castro in the BP? AA did such a great job to start the offseason. But it looks like he's going to fail again at putting the finishing touches on the roster. I don't even hate AA, but heading into Opening Day with Travis, Pompey, Sanchez, Norris and Castro would be a tragedy.

    Was this a highlight video? Because if it was, you wouldn't be able to tell if he had fouled of prior pitches before the homerun without watching the entire at bat. Not only that, watching only Jose Bautista's homeruns leaves out a large percentage of not only home runs but two strike hits throughout the league.

    Not really fair. One of my favorite parts of baseball is watching a good hitter foul off a good two strike pitch. These guys are trained to spoil those pitches. No sense to penalize them.

    I understand the math behind it all. My point was that someone with more knowledge than me could probably make a relevant point and an arguement about age, Donaldson having already peaked, Stras not having peaked yet, etc.

    Great point. A good f***ing move is right. Following your logic, I would have to agree. It's probably not as simple as that, but your point still stands. AA made a great move to acquire an elite talent.

    Is there (or has this point ever been reached) a point in forecasting, where the market becomes stagnant and player salaries don't continue to rise at the same rate as inflation? I'm not very economically savvy beyond basics. What kind of impact does the price of oil have on the MLB? I've been reading about the possibility of economic collapses in the US due to this. I'd be interested in hearing from someone who has a background or a good idea of this type of thing.

    There's no doubt Shields makes this club better. But if his price drops to 4/80 there is going to be a whole bunch of teams in on him. Teams like Miami, San Fran, St. Louis, Red Sox and the Yankees all probably become suitors in this situation.
