    That sounds like my dad. He doesn't understand advanced stats (nor does he care to) but he's a huge fan of Kawa because he's so damn likeable. What I hate is when people form arguments from opinions like this. Casuals make the baseball world go round, but lots of them won't budge even when numbers are in front of them.

    If I was to head down (need to graduate first!), I think I would be most interested in watching practices, BP and scrim games. Getting a look at the guys preparing for the season rather than watching them play pointless ST games. If Dunedin is anything like the complexes in AZ, having all the fields next to one another would allow me to watch a ton of guys in the same place. I also really want to go to the DR to watch some DWL action. Almost did it a few years ago with my dad, but we decided against it while we were down there. Knowing what I know now, we definitely should've done it.

    I was referring to Bautista a couple years ago for Profar, but I know what you mean. We can quibble on the rankings, but I was more just referencing trading an establish power bat for an up the middle prospect.

    The fact that you're of the belief that Izturis' injury was any more freak than Stanton's is considerably more concerning. Both injuries were out of said player's control. One gets mocked, one doesn't. One is a superstar, one is a bench player. See the correlation?

    I understand the logic. Trading an aging superstar for an elite up the middle prospect. Think Billy Beane trading Josh Donaldson for Barreto. Barreto might not be elite right now, but he could be a year from now.

    Yup, exactly. Hindsight is 20/20. BTS had a good post the other day about how people have twisted this logic (no pun intended, TL), basically calling out everyone who would've done that trade two years ago.

    I'm not in the least bit concerned about being made fun of. I'm assuming this is where you expect someone more witty than yourself to step in? Sorry that I don't buy that Iztruis' teammates were making fun of him after suffering a freaky season ending injury. I'm sure Jose Fernandez couldn't contain his laughter when Stanton got drilled.

    I guess I just don't find the humor in injuries. Just because Izturis is s***, doesn't mean he should be publicly laughed at for something out of his control. If Jose Bautista had done the same thing, Gibby would not have laughed hysterically about it in front of season ticket holders. I love Gibby, but that seemed unnecessary.

    I agree. If it had been a sprained ankle he might have caught some s*** for it. But when it's a season ending injury, guys feel for you.

    I highly doubt he got hazed or bugged about a season ending injury by anyone. Those guys know exactly how much work they put into getting ready for each season, and would probably have varying degrees of sympathy for him. Only a guy like Pierzynski would use a season ending injury as a platform to make fun of someone.

    AA prefers having a job. I don't get why it's so hard to understand that Baby Vlad et all aren't the reason the Jays will not sign Moncada. Even if there was no sign of them blowing their wad July 2, they still wouldn't be in the conversation. Rogers wouldn't approve an 80M dollar cash signing. Surely you can agree with that, right? It's like some think AA has a choice between Moncada OR Baby Vlad +++. He doesn't.
