  1. My guess is that either a) your workouts have become stagnant in that you repeatedly do the same type of workouts (I'm not even a big believer in "muscle confusion" or "tricking the body" but there IS something to be said for it) or you have hit a plateau and aren't continually increasing your weights. You need to continue to add more resistance to your lifts. I've learned a lot from my schooling, but probably more just from reading research articles and websites like bodybuilding.com. They have so much free information there (almost like fangraphs!). If you're interested in learning for yourself, I would suggest surfing it for a bit and seeing what you can find. You can find recipes, workouts (goal specific), etc. Tldr; continually increase your weights in the gym, track your macros (fats, proteins and carbs), keep track of your lifts, and get a partner to hold you accountable, along with being a spotter so you can work til fatigue.
  2. Your posts are very accurate. We believe in similar things.
  3. Agreed, but for some populations cardio is nearly impossible. For the general overweight person though yes, I agree.
  4. Does anyone here work in any type of health/fitness/athletic training setting? I'm finishing up a degree in Exercise Science and am hoping to go to graduate school afterwards.
  5. RealAccountant should be quite pleased.
  6. Seriously though, don't cut out carbs. One of the biggest myths in the weight loss industry today. Complex carbs vs simple carbs. Whole grain pastas, quinoa, sweet potatos, some breads, etc. Also, if you're serious about losing weight, beginning a resistance training program is probably a good idea. Increasing muscle mass = increasing BMR.
  7. Lol 15 pages and the deal falls through.
  8. Losing weight basically comes down to eating at a caloric deficit. Calories expended>calories consumed. Also, I would never recommend cutting out carbs completely. They're the body's primary source of energy (which is necessary if you're planning on doing any kind of aerobic exercise, resistance training, etc). Figure out your BMR - the amount of calories your body uses to maintain homeostatic state (there are free calculators online), track your food intake (lots of apps that use a QR Reader) and aim for a caloric deficit ~300-500. Much easier to achieve these numbers by increasing your BMR through exercise than drastically altering your diet.
  9. Good luck to you in your continuing recovery. Hoping nothing but the best. I've dealt with it on both sides of my family. That being said, I do enjoy having some beers with my buddies. Shooting pool, playing cards, watching football, etc.
  10. Sounds a lot like Sanchez.
  11. Not sure how anyone can really criticize this move. BP sucks. AA added depth.
  12. Lol you are obtuse. Boxy was right.
  13. This is like saying "don't get Michael Saunders because Justin Upton is available". Just because the Jays are linked to a middle reliever (who is better than most of the in house options) doesn't mean AA is finished adding pieces.
  14. Well they make up the majority of every fan base. So ya, it's probably a good idea to not alienate them.
  15. Never once said any of them are all encompassing. You sound like a longtime reader who started posting, and are taking advantage of the smallest opportunity to show that you have a basic understanding of advanced stats. Your dumn if you really don't believe that a large percentage of casual fans don't use a players slash line to form a base line opinion of the player. That's what 43211234 was referring to, and it's pretty easy to see.
  16. Either you or 43211234. What I'm saying is that you guys understand there are better way to evaluate offense other than the slash line.
  17. It will be a whole lot lower if he can't throw strikes out of the bullpen this year.
  18. The majority of baseball fans still use slash line, almost exclusively. Only now is WAR starting to become somewhat mainstream. I'm sure he's aware of how stats like wOBA or wRC+ are more accurate indicators of offensive contribution. Tldr; you're nitpicking.
  19. Been a fan of this thinking for a while now. His value could be at it's peak right now.
  20. Can we f***ing not start the year with 20 year old Castro in the BP? AA did such a great job to start the offseason. But it looks like he's going to fail again at putting the finishing touches on the roster. I don't even hate AA, but heading into Opening Day with Travis, Pompey, Sanchez, Norris and Castro would be a tragedy.
  21. Was this a highlight video? Because if it was, you wouldn't be able to tell if he had fouled of prior pitches before the homerun without watching the entire at bat. Not only that, watching only Jose Bautista's homeruns leaves out a large percentage of not only home runs but two strike hits throughout the league.
  22. Not really fair. One of my favorite parts of baseball is watching a good hitter foul off a good two strike pitch. These guys are trained to spoil those pitches. No sense to penalize them.
  23. This entire situation is a mess. Find someone else in 2016. Putting DD on this fictitious pedestal is getting old. Lol at O's fans though. Having a guy run their team who clearly wants to move on, and holding him ransom.
