  1. Somewhere in the back of your closet hides a Blue Jay jersey that reads ROMERO across the back, and you're pissed you can't wear it.
  2. It would look bad on the organization to go back on their word. Even if they were to believe an international draft is coming, it's just not good business practice. The real factor here though is that there's no way Rogers willingly spends 80M cash on a 19 year old.
  3. Indians seem like a good over bet to me.
  4. I guess we'll see. I would be inclined to take the under on either of those numbers as FIPs out of the pen.
  5. I see where you're coming from. Penciling him in for the 8th inning isn't a good strategy, but his ability to get ground balls at an above average rate should make him a valuable piece of the bullpen. I'm not even a big Sanchez fan (I've advocated he's most valuable to the Jays in a trade), but he's not 6th inning mop up duty either.
  6. I really don't see many people parading around claiming him to be elite. Maybe in the comments section of Sportsnet articles. There is also a difference between predicting what will happen, and what people would choose to do. The way the offseason has unfolded, it appears that AA has constructed the BP to feature Sanchez. Just because he seems destined to start in the back end of the pen, doesn't mean people are labeling him elite.
  7. I really can't envision a scenario where he doesn't start there. Estrada as the 5th starter, Norris to AAA and Sanchez to the pen. A guy like Guilmet could end up being a viable option back there, but as it stands I believe that's how Gibby will use him.
  8. I was an active reader, not poster during Colby's 2013 season. I remember wanting the Jays to lock him up long term. Sure glad AA didn't. One of his biggest strengths is certainly extending current players. I trust he will do the right thing with Donaldson, whatever that might be.
  9. The pen really isn't as big of a concern anymore. The back end is solid with Cecil, Sanchez and Loup. AA has done a good job stockpiling guys who have some upside. It's not the sexiest way to do it, but then again 90% of fans had no idea who Holland, Davis and Herrera were last year until the post season anyway.
  10. Just stop. You used to be a good poster. What happened?
  11. Great news though. I didn't expect this to happen.
  12. Well the other was Valencia so it isn't that they haven't played as Jays. Must've felt that their offers were strong enough!
  13. Cash is tight, worried about Donaldson arb hearing? That's my guess.
  14. I think Miley is fine, but that transaction over the Donaldson one (I know, it's just one opinion) is dumb. I'll take the MVP candidate over the innings eater, thank you.
  15. Not sure to be honest. If that's the case, dumb not to get the surgery right away. Regardless, s***** thing to happen to anybody. Just the first of many victims this spring though I'm sure.
  16. San Diego is a .500 team give or take a couple of games. The worst ranking on that list is probably the Red Sox. Or Baltimore, depending how you look at it. I'll take the over on 84 for them.
  17. I agree, SJF_2 just said he wouldn't regress.
  18. Damn that has to be hard on a guy who preps all winter, then not even make the official opening day of spring training.
  19. Sorry going to have to drop out. I'll be on my way to South Padre, TX for spring break.
  20. Buehrle put up 3.5 WAR last year. Not calling you out, but just showing you that if he's ~2 WAR, that is regression.
  21. I honestly haven't read one person saying Brett Cecil will be a middle reliever this year.
  22. Would really be nice if these guys throwing BP to Olivera and Baby Vlad would throw on the outer half (I'm only half joking, would like to see them go the other way in these clips).
  23. I like the compact swing. Good extension through the zone. Then again, lots of guys look good in BP. Would go a long way to stabilizing the MIF. 3/30 lets get this done.
  24. Devon Travis' 2013 season ranks 14th in mWAR (Imperfectly Calculated Minor Leage WAR) since 2006, slightly ahead of guys like Joc Pederson (2014), George Springer (2013) and Mookie Betts (2013). http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/imperfectly-calculated-minor-league-war-leaders-2006-14/
