  1. I understand the logic. Trading an aging superstar for an elite up the middle prospect. Think Billy Beane trading Josh Donaldson for Barreto. Barreto might not be elite right now, but he could be a year from now.
  2. Good for you. Gotta stick to your guns, even if it results in a banning!
  3. Yup, exactly. Hindsight is 20/20. BTS had a good post the other day about how people have twisted this logic (no pun intended, TL), basically calling out everyone who would've done that trade two years ago.
  4. I'm not in the least bit concerned about being made fun of. I'm assuming this is where you expect someone more witty than yourself to step in? Sorry that I don't buy that Iztruis' teammates were making fun of him after suffering a freaky season ending injury. I'm sure Jose Fernandez couldn't contain his laughter when Stanton got drilled.
  5. I guess I just don't find the humor in injuries. Just because Izturis is s***, doesn't mean he should be publicly laughed at for something out of his control. If Jose Bautista had done the same thing, Gibby would not have laughed hysterically about it in front of season ticket holders. I love Gibby, but that seemed unnecessary.
  6. I agree. If it had been a sprained ankle he might have caught some s*** for it. But when it's a season ending injury, guys feel for you.
  7. 5 years collegiate experience, countless friends in pro ball. I NO NOTHING ABOUT DA CLUBHOUSE
  8. I highly doubt he got hazed or bugged about a season ending injury by anyone. Those guys know exactly how much work they put into getting ready for each season, and would probably have varying degrees of sympathy for him. Only a guy like Pierzynski would use a season ending injury as a platform to make fun of someone.
  9. AA prefers having a job. I don't get why it's so hard to understand that Baby Vlad et all aren't the reason the Jays will not sign Moncada. Even if there was no sign of them blowing their wad July 2, they still wouldn't be in the conversation. Rogers wouldn't approve an 80M dollar cash signing. Surely you can agree with that, right? It's like some think AA has a choice between Moncada OR Baby Vlad +++. He doesn't.
  10. Too many buds tonight. That was dumn.
  11. March 30th? Is that right?
  12. I would if the date worked for me
  13. Exactly. Baby Vlad isn't holding them back from Moncada, the money is. One is a top 10 prospect, one is 15 years old.
  14. The only good I took from that article was that they acknowledged JPA sucks.
  15. If Rogers demanded a Moncada signing, AA would be signing him and not Baby Vlad. That's my point. Baby Vlad isn't holding the Jays back from Moncada- the price is. Along with 25 or so other teams. It's not calling out Rogers, it's that the price is sky high.
  16. Somewhere in the back of your closet hides a Blue Jay jersey that reads ROMERO across the back, and you're pissed you can't wear it.
  17. It would look bad on the organization to go back on their word. Even if they were to believe an international draft is coming, it's just not good business practice. The real factor here though is that there's no way Rogers willingly spends 80M cash on a 19 year old.
  18. Indians seem like a good over bet to me.
  19. I guess we'll see. I would be inclined to take the under on either of those numbers as FIPs out of the pen.
  20. I see where you're coming from. Penciling him in for the 8th inning isn't a good strategy, but his ability to get ground balls at an above average rate should make him a valuable piece of the bullpen. I'm not even a big Sanchez fan (I've advocated he's most valuable to the Jays in a trade), but he's not 6th inning mop up duty either.
  21. I really don't see many people parading around claiming him to be elite. Maybe in the comments section of Sportsnet articles. There is also a difference between predicting what will happen, and what people would choose to do. The way the offseason has unfolded, it appears that AA has constructed the BP to feature Sanchez. Just because he seems destined to start in the back end of the pen, doesn't mean people are labeling him elite.
  22. I really can't envision a scenario where he doesn't start there. Estrada as the 5th starter, Norris to AAA and Sanchez to the pen. A guy like Guilmet could end up being a viable option back there, but as it stands I believe that's how Gibby will use him.
  23. I was an active reader, not poster during Colby's 2013 season. I remember wanting the Jays to lock him up long term. Sure glad AA didn't. One of his biggest strengths is certainly extending current players. I trust he will do the right thing with Donaldson, whatever that might be.
