Well someone like Terry Ryan would probably fire you if you mentioned WAR. They may not all use VORP or WAR or WARP or whatever they call it but those concepts are still exactly what every team is trying to buy, even if they don't explicitly think about it that way.

They could just change the logos to avoid it being racist. The Redskins should change their logo to a potato. The Indians should change their logo to Ben Kingsley's version of Gandhi.

He doesn't have to necessarily be good or bad. You're just looking for the best player, period. But when your pool of available dudes pretty much all project to hit below their weight, the best ones are just very likely going to be fancy framers since that skill has so much influence on a catcher's defensive value. One guy who the Blue Jays should take a long look at IMO is Michael McKenry. He's actually a below average framer but might be the best hitting catcher on the free agent market right now.

They can still add a better backup. Thole is out of options but it's very likely that he would clear waivers so it doesn't really matter. He also doesn't quite qualify for the "Veteran's Consent Rule" so he can't even demand to be released if they try to waive him off the 25 man to Buffalo. And even if he could refuse assignment to AAA, he probably wouldn't because being in whatever organization has RA Dickey is his best path to MLB playing time and he knows it. I find it more likely than not that Thole will be in Buffalo to start the year, as the team's 3rd C. But we'll see.

Yeah, everyone should make a top 15. And then the final list will obviously be 20+ I'll try to get mine done this weekend. I need to do some research on a lot of the really young guys, especially the internationals.

Interestingly, Aoki actually got a decent little raise after getting 1 year older, dealing with concussion issues, and having a cheap option declined. $5.5M in '16, 6M player option in '17 if hits easily attainable playing time figure. 1.5M incentives each yr. Should be a good thing in terms of Revere having a little bit of trade appeal, since he's at the same talent level but 6 years younger.

I still can't believe how perfect this offseason has been for the boring nerdy fans like such as myself. Pretty everything that I wanted to happen has come to fruition, from AA getting replaced with a smarter human all the way down to some personnel moves like seeing Chavez acquired and Navarro take off. All they really need to do now is trade Revere and remove the moderator label from o2cui2i and I can sleep happy forever

There should be a ranked-preference matching system for careers and education coming out of high school. Students rank preferences and are assigned a partial government scholarship to: - A certain degree - A certain apprenticeship - A certain job (employee and employer would both be given some benefit in the form of tax credits, a wage addition, or whatever). The assignment is based on: - Job market needs (projected and present) - Student's aptitudes - Student's preferences And students would still be free to do anything they want, they just forfeit the scholarship/subsidy if they don't accept their "Socially Recommended Workforce Training Assignment". Boom. Hire me, government.
