  1. Tapia's process statistics and indicators are not awful. I don't think he should ever start over Kirk but he's a useful piece I think and its disingenuous to even put their playing time side by side because Alejandro Kirk is not an outfielder
  2. I can't justify the rope Zimmer has received. He is a lost cause. If he's on the roster he should literally never start a game
  3. They tried hard all offseason to add a better left handed outfielder, the obvious need Players like Brett Gardner literally turned down guaranteed millions from Toronto and preferred to not play Tapia was the best they could do. They made the trade reluctantly at the end of the offseason and at least were able to con a decent prospect out of it And Tapia has underperformed his projections Let's not be stupid about this. The front office did nothing unreasonable
  4. Yeah I think he has a relatively good chance because he's likelier than most to have 4 hit games Remember Bengie Molina
  5. Sounds like both of them
  6. Roger needed hitters for live BP at home so he made his sons hitters. Simple.
  7. Lol Jim turned that down straight up?
  8. Damn Mize TJS
  9. No, if the peer talent is generally worse then a great player will be relatively speaking even greater
  10. He should literally try to hit fly balls every time He would hit 60 homers every year
  11. Talent is diluted now because of the minor league level removal. Players are in that league that in last years would not have been pitching that high
  12. Yeah I get it They actually lost the brand to The Score right? Sold out to The Score, were there for like two years, then The Score killed Drunk Jays Fans and several other satellite blog things. Then Stoeten went to work for NP for about three weeks. Then that didn't work out. So he started www dot andrewstoeten dot com
  13. Can't really fault a blogger for trying to make a real newspaper job work
  14. Although if you do the Jays on the same timeframe and only look at first round bats it's also pretty s*****
  15. Yeah they had some flop picks After Longoria in 2006... these are their first round bats Tim Beckham Josh Sale Justin O'Conner Drew Vettleson Mikie Mahtook Jake Hager Brandon Martin Tyler Goeddel Kes Carter James Harris Nick Ciuffo Casey Gillaspie Garret Whitley Josh Lowe Greg Jones Carson Williams Cooper Kinney lmao that sucks last five names are of course still prospects they have done okay with international guys and trading for bats though
  16. Most of that is how they handle players. So platoon happy. And park factors of course.
  17. because they deserve it gluck gluck
  18. Moreno will have a lot of high contact hitters to learn from at the MLB level. Kirk, Bo, Vladdy are all very different but they share the ability to put the bat on most pitches. Learning when to hit for power can be tricky for these guys but it comes for most of them. Just need to not fall into the trap that Gurriel is in right now where you focus too much on contact (sit breaking ball and s***) and completely forget how to homer.
  19. I think that is slightly overstating the importance of the pen There is not a huge diff between the current pen and the 2015 pen Lowe, Loup, and Hawkins were mediocre There are like five solid relievers in the pen right now and one closer who is elite when rested. Yes, it would be nice to have another true shut down arm and for various reasons guys like Phelps, Yimi, and Cimber, while good, are not that
  20. probably gets you like half way there?
  21. This isn't necessarily true. Like, there isn't probably going to be one obvious trade that is the best. I don't think. Sure, if the offer is obviously the best for one of them then you do it but that's rarely the case. More likely there would be potential deals for all three that seem more or less fair. And it's easier to pull the trigger on the smaller deal, which would be in all likelihood the deal where the least valuable of the three catchers is being traded. Less friction on the smaller deal.
  22. Isn't this a bit of a Jays thing, where they like to have rookies both debut on the road and just sit on the bench their first game up?
  23. holy f*** McC + Glasnow + Baz all healthy at once is a scary thought. add in Rasmussen and Patino and it's the best rotation in baseball.... BEFORE you even add whichever crafty lefties and veterans they sign
