  1. Is that really an impressive list? Hill was a home run with a 20+ WAR career but Bichette might eclipse that before he turns 27. Other than Hill.... you've got a handful of players who had decent but fleeting careers, and then a bunch of busts or role players. Like, if you are going to go that deep on draft record you also have to give Shatkins credit for a bunch of other guys. Manoah and Biggio and Pearson are on the team now, then the AAA/AAAA guys at present who are roster options, then the prospects in AA or whatever who are likely to make it at some point, and then also all the good draft picks they ended up trading away or getting value for before they flopped. Noda, Winckowski, the higher profile trades.
  2. I'm more concerned about the process than the results. He just looks kind of hopeless against a diversity of pitchers. High fastballs = kryptonite. He honestly just swings too much. You could probably make him a 100 wRC+ hitter by just toning down the Swing%.
  3. yeah it's becoming an issue also doesn't help that Kirk sucks and the Biggio/Espinal timeshare has been horrible offensively I still wouldn't force the issue and change anything. Too desperate. Varsho simply needs to figure it out enough to hit to a 100 wRC+. The team needs Springer, Vlad, and Kirk to figure it out as well. But when you say it like this it does make you hopeful for positive regression. There aren't many players on the team you would expect to be much worse offensively, going forward... *I would support acquiring a RHB OF platoon guy. Then at least if it doesn't get better they can sit one of the lefty CF down ocassionally.
  4. If they draft a college player who sticks in say 3 years... that just means his first few seasons will be wasted in the post Bo Bichette rebuild.
  5. That's probably as bad as winning a series can possibly feel
  6. He was never a shortstop primarily. Just played there a bit his first couple years He was a good defender at second base for most of his career. I think he only lost a step once he landed in Arizona. At times he was elite on D. He was an up and down hitter because of batted ball profile and babip.
  7. Love this pick Videos look good Diversity hire is also smart in this economy
  8. None of this is right, lol
  9. It's a force out, "fielder's choice" they call it Think of it like this - if nobody is on base it's just a basic groundout
  10. Baltimore could catch them. Heck, Toronto could even catch them. % chance to win division per Fangraphs: Blue Jays 8.4% Orioles 7.1% Yankees 5.4% TB's odds were 88% on June 30th to win division, now down to about 78% hmmm
  11. It was Joc Pederson though, he looks like a douche
  12. I dunno if it goes that far for Pham He's a bit weird, sure but he has also been well liked on past teams. When the Rays traded him their players rioted.
  13. great target. probably better than Renfroe. I wonder if the Mets will even sell, though. They probably inch closer to the last WC spot and decide to just stay the course.
  14. His career splits are all that matter. Single season L/R splits have no meaning. The current roster has two starters that are hopeless against lefties (Varsho and KK). Renfroe is probably a better option against LHP than Belt, as well. The only RHB to replace or pinch hit for those 2.5 options is the second catcher. Replacing Clement on the roster with Hunter Renfroe would be a big deal IMO.
  15. I'd been fine with those trades. I think both of those guys have a lot left.
  16. It's just a jarring package Jays could get more bang for their buck by trading Tiedemann or Orelvis for other needs
  17. There is no such thing as too much dairy
  18. sir, don't let your mind wander like this it is not healthy
  19. If Frasso is hurt right now, then he is tracking like a Julian Merryweather.
  20. Yeah I'm hoping it's just evident during his start that he fixed something. Maybe we see a slightly better slider or better velo or more consistent location. Of course the front office knows more than us.
  21. just skepticism that he had enough time in the minors to actually figure anything out
