  1. You could say this about almost every player having a great season, if you look under the hood
  2. Within like 19 days one offseason they: - traded Randy Arozarena for Matthew Liberatore - traded Adolis Garcia for cash considerations
  3. I mean... with good reason hindsight is 20/20 and he kind of sucks this year but you can't fake a 5.8% SwStr% he looked like Fat Jose Altuve maybe he still is and this is just an adjustment year. it's frustrating that he just completely lost his power stroke. i feel like he is at least a significantly better defender than Jansen all things considered
  4. It doesn't sound like anybody was hot for Kirk.
  5. The lag on St Louis becoming a bad organization was frustratingly long. I dunno what kept them hanging onto being good for the last 5 years. I guess just a weak division and probably a few really good "old school" baseball people.
  6. Such a stud I've always been a huge Moreno fan and have been adamant that Toronto will deeply regret that trade, if they don't already. Kirk turning into a Joe Louis and Varsho showing he has the hit tool of a typical catcher = not helping
  7. It's like the reverse Brad Hand
  8. If Espinal gets ONE more start this year for the Blue Jays, I will riot
  9. They absolutely should have sent Espinal down weeks ago
  10. This is the part of the game where the Toronto hitters start squeezing their bats too hard. It's freeze up and choke time
  11. Okay this is going to be a hilarious ump scorecard
  12. I would support 1 or 2 days of Vlad on the BENCH and Schneider at DH If anything, just to light a fire under Vlad's enormous ass...
  13. The prospect age vs. level stuff is rapidly changing. He's certainly NOT old but I dunno if he gets youth brownie points. He's at the point where most modern MLB teams just call the player up if they check all the boxes.
  14. Schneider has the "feel" of a 28 year old minor league journeyman but this motherf***er was born in 1999 There were 1999 birthdays being picked in the 2020 draft He's just a normal prospect, lol. Maybe a year behind the "norm".
  15. 8 games in AAA this year!
  16. Yes if anyone NEEDS a day off But it's also late August and the team is on the outside looking in so does anybody really get a day off for pure maintenance? Hopefully/probably not, if the team is being managed with urgency. So the uncomfortable fact remains. We NEED Schneider to get a run of playing time but unless someone is banged up then pencilling him in against RHP probably makes the team worse on paper or worse by projections. sigh.
  17. 30% K rate in AA is atrocious for any prospect Hiraldo is at best an up and down, AAAA player He probably also has almost no defensive utility.
  18. Not gonna go back and read the whole GDT but I hope everyone who hates Yimi Garcia was sucking his dick today
  19. The lineup against RHP: Merrifield 2B Bo SS Belt DH Vlad 1B Springer RF Varsho LF Chapman 3B Jansen/Kirk C Kiermaier CF Who can you bench to give Schnieder a run of starts against RHP? Chapman has been bad all August but was great in July. He has had a wildly streaky season but all things considered is just too good to bench. Kiermaier? Varsho to CF and then Scheider is in left?
  20. Not only did he have a perfect day at the plate but Espinal made a nearly game blowing error, again. There is just no way to get his bat in there against RHP. Kind of annoying. You almost want someone to get hurt as weird as that is to say
  21. That's the issue when owning star Blue Jays When they tank it hurts you twice
  22. lol you are going to miss the playoffs aren't you? It's all Vlad's fault.
  23. Wheels I guess
  24. So, the new outfield dimensions and the new construction may be one big thing going on. I know they tried to keep the changes mostly "neutral" with the wall coming in and out, up and down in various places. But things like closing off the way air flows into the tunnel might actually end up being a significant reduction in the HR park factor. I would say that we need to watch it for a few years to really know but they are making more changes this offseason and the reduction of foul territory should make a significant improvement for hitters so we will never really "know". But the 2023 statcast park factors for RC show a 98 park factor overall and a 92 for home runs.
