  1. Toronto has made some bad RP/SP decisions in recent years. I thought Hatch should have been a pure RP a couple years ago. There are some other examples. I think they had Merryweather starting a bit back when he first entered the org, which seems insane in hindsight. Pearson... Hopefully they make the right call with Mitchy
  2. Not just you. Their player creed requires clean shaven faced but evidently no character analysis or background checks.
  3. It's.... horrible.
  4. I mean they ARE except they have inexplicably swept the Blue Jays twice. Pretend Toronto went 4-3 in those 7 games as they should have and Boston is 39-47 while Toronto is 50-36. One might say that at this moment in time Toronto's entire season is dictated and described by having blown two series against the worst team in their division. Correct that historic fumble and Toronto is tied with Baltimore while Boston is set for another top 10 draft pick.
  5. Frasso since June 6 9.1 IP, 15 ER 5 BB, 2 HBP, one WP --- looks like he has lost his delivery
  6. Can I pick neither? Sale is 34 and has barely pitched since 2019. I think he might be done, physically. Bellinger since May 1 has no homers and a 70 wRC+. Looks like he's still awful and just had a hot April.
  7. Yeah. They only have I think 3 assets on their MLB roster. McMahon - 2 to 3 WAR player with a $11.7M AAV. Small amount of value. Tovar - pre-arb player who can play SS and survive with the bat. Also very young. Bird - 5 years of control remaining, may be a good GB reliever I'd also maybe give them Ryan Feltner since he's a 26 year old SP with a decent sinker (101 stuff+) and average command. Zac Veen has cratered with a 71 wRC+ Benny Montgomery has a K rate close to 30% Warming Bernabel, 73 wRC+ Drew Romo, 80 wRC+ Jaden Hill, 9.92 ERA Gabriel Hughes, 8.25 ERA The farm is Amador and a couple of other A+ prospects in Sterlin Thompson and Jordan Beck. But the fact that all three of them are at the same level makes me thing it's an environmental boost so I'm skeptical of all of them, even Amador.
  8. The Colorado Rockies as a team have -0.6 fWAR from position players 2.4 fWAR from pitchers There are..... 72 individuals in MLB who have more value right now than the entire Rockies roster.
  9. I'd rather just sign a stop-gap 1 year player if they feel like they need an addition. Gurriel has a 50% chance to be a 1 WAR player in any given year so that's not appealing. Really low upside guy since his baserunning and defense = atrocious.
  10. 21 year old SS in AA with a 14% BB rate, 19% K rate, and .270 ISO across 279 PA Here is everybody since 2006 with a BB rate over 12%, K rate under 21%, and ISO of .250 or more while being 22 or younger in AA: Trent Grisham 2019 Matt Wieters 2008 Alex Bregman 2016 Alex Gordon 2006 Colby Rasmus 2007 Gunnar Henderson 2022 Not a single non-MLB player shows up in the sample. I think Gunnar and Orelvis are the only two at 21 years old, as well. Rest were 22. Trent Grisham is the "worst" on the list but he's not really a comparable as he just scraped out a .250 ISO that year, in 280 PA, and it was out of character. He's really not a good comparison whatsoever. Here are some other guys who are CLOSE but just missed some of the thresholds: Justin Upton 2007 Rafael Devers 2017 Bobby Witt Jr. 2021 Francisco Alvarez 2022 Spencer Torkelson 2021 Coby Mayo 2023 Corbin Carroll 2022 Giancarlo Stanton 2010 (.417 ISO lmao) Curtis Mead 2022 Cristian Yelich 2013 Eric Duncan 2006 Dylan Carlson 2019 Rowdy Tellez 2016 Cody Bellinger 2016 Conclusion: Orelvis Martinez is a likely MLB player and his statistical profile indicates 4+ WAR upside, depending on defensive value.
  11. Hungry Man pitches out of it!
  12. I think we all agree this is a bad idea Hope it works out!
  13. A lack of diving catches does not make Varsho any less impressive. His abilities in tracking balls, taking perfect routes, cutting off gappers, etc. are very impressive. Pillar was probably about as good during his defensive peak but he broke down a bit after 2016 and was just good from then on. No longer great.
  14. that's just what you get for rostering Patrick Corbin in 2023
  15. I think he gets $500M guaranteed. One of these 12 WAR seasons to a team is worth like.... $100M to $120M on its own. So he only needs to give the signing team a handful of elite years to earn the deal. And like you said, even though he seems like a high risk player because of what he does his double skill set is actually a hedge against some catastrophic, career ruining injuries. So on an annual basis yes, you are always worried about injuries because of how much he does, but over the course of a decade maybe the injury concerns aren't as severe? If that makes any sense.
  16. Happ is fine but he's a corner outfielder who is going to end up with like 17 HR and 9 SB. That's pretty boring, and not an impact player. At this point in the season most teams have their starting OF group and are more likely to need SP, anyway.
  17. Josiah Gray is garbage

Wow what a signing I do not understand If he got a five year deal I wouldn't have blinked
  20. Toronto should have enough power, guys just aren't hitting enough. Vlad 40 Bo 30 Springer 30 Chapman 20 Varsho 20 Belt 20 Jansen 20 Kirk 15 ^ all reasonable hr totals
  21. What did Marcus do
  22. Adam Wainwright is having an incredibly sad final season
  23. people want the wins to be so easy that it's not even entertaining
