  1. 8 games under in the division = 8 games under over all
  2. Gotta win this one to have a chance at winning the series tomorrow, it would be horrible going into tomorrow looking to avoid a sweep against non other than CC.
  3. You never know with GM's, there may be one out there who might give up a prospect for him. The more important question is, do AA and his gang see JPA's shortcomings? I'd like to think they'd like to see A.J. Jimenez be the catcher of the future starting next year (unrealistic), or at least get a good defensive catcher and go with a platoon with Thole, but i have my doubts. I was hoping Gibbons, I guess cause he's a former catcher, would see how bad he is defensively. And given the way Gibbons has constructed the lineup, it makes it disappointing that he thinks JPA belongs in the middle of the order. The worst part about JPA hitting in the middle of the order is that it tells him everything is fine and he don't need to improve on anything except swing harder.
  4. I read where he sat out the year before being drafted or something so he might've been a higher-round pick in terms of talent. Anyway, just trying to find some postives and he seems to be a big positive so far.
  5. Yeah, I saw that. I just think that, given their age vs level, the Jays may promote them to a level where they'd be playing against players their age. What do you think the chances are of Burns being tried at 2B given that he was drafted at SS? I'm sure they already gave this some thought or even tried it in instructs since he's playing 3B, but what the heck, what else is there to talk about that's more interesting with the Blue Jays? All we can do is look forward to next year...again.
  6. Exactly what they had been avoiding during this 4-game winning streak. Now, Kuroda was good and they couldn't get anything going, but we know JPA has like 2 walks the whole year. Almost all the other hitters on the team have shown some improvement in this regard, but hey, he's the cleanup hitter, he's gotta get his reebeezz!
  7. Yeah, worrisome, but at least he'll turn 23 later on during the season. His BB% is very positive. Promote Pillar and Burns, see how they do at a higher level!
  8. Why should he change when he hits in the middle of the order almost every game? The message he gets from hitting in the meat of the order is that they're happy with him.
  9. Looking forward to tomorrow and Sunday with Sanchez and Nolin pitching tomorrow and Stroman's debut on Sunday.
  10. You just summed up the Jays' season. Not much to look forward to aside from the few remaining prospects like Sanchez, Stroman, Nolin, Gose (struggling badly) plus the guys in SS ball. A couple interesting guys in Pillar and Burns as well, they just keep on hitting.
  11. Well, the thing is, they're both considered old for the level they're playing in and they're both showing that they might be too good for said levels, so I figure they should be challenged by being promoted. I saw where Burns was drafted as a SS and I wonder if they'd give him a look at 2B.
  12. He's apparently having some setbacks with the elbow. I read or heard somewhere that a nerve on his elbow is irritated. He was one of the guys I, as well as many others, was going to follow closely as he got to AA last year and with a good season could've gone to AAA this year or at least started there next year.
  13. I don't think Rogers was ready, I only saw Loup warming up, but I could be wrong. As I said, this was more about helping out his starter's ERA, but then again, with the lack of emphasis on defense that Gibbons has shown, I don't think he much cares about his pitchers
  14. What do Pillar and Burns have to do to get promoted?
  15. Agreed. I wonder if Gibbons was asleep 'cause I don't think he should've given Buehrle the leash he gave him in the 7th. Not saying the Blue Jays would've come back to win this, but it seems to me he should've anticipated some trouble and had his BP ready at least to help out his starter'r era. It's funny, I don't really get mad anymore when they lose, I'm resigned to the fact that this is not as good a team as I thought it was.
  16. Blue Jay pitching, hits him on the head. Yankee pitching, ball goes into glove for an out
  17. I'm going with Rasmus, he's due for one, hopefully it'll be the first of 10 for the Jays!
  18. I know I keep talking about him, but there really isn't much to get excited about in terms of hitting. Andy Burns, the guy has 19BBs and 15Ks which is great to see. He's playing 3B, any chance they try him at 2b? He's like 6'2 which might be too big. I wonder why he hasn't been promoted.
  19. Noticed that too, might be a good thing to see if he adjusts. If he comes out of his funk, might be time to move him to Dunedin. I would speculate the adjustment he needs to make is increasing his BB%
  20. Were all these other Blue Jays teams winning or losing teams?
  21. Not that Wilner is any kind authority on anything related to baseball, but all the signs point to him being a reliever. Another guy who is now a reliever is John Stilson. I've said this on this thread already, but when a guy has been throwing all ST, is kept in ExST pitching in games and then makes his first appearance in class A and only throws 1 inning, that means he's being used as a reliever. Look at Sean Nolin, stayed back in ExST because of an injury (groin?), and on his first start went 3+. On his 2nd start went 6. This team could use a reliever also. Maybe McGowan and Stison/Carreno can provide options as relievers. Look, Santos may be done for the year. Rogers is not a 7/8th inning guy. Delabar has struggled with command and would be the only righty Gibbons would be comfortable with late in games. At least guys like McGowan, Stilson, Carreno would give the team more righty options to complement the 3 lefties to match up against teams.
  22. Because the team was as much as 11 games under and once you're such a hole, you have to take it step by step and not look too far ahead. When you're in said hole, you first want to climb up to level ground (.500) once there, you can think of flying!
  23. We know Reyes will come back which is huge. Getting JJ back will be huge as well for obvious reasons, but one has to wonder if he will come back when they claim he will. Remember, Santos started off with sore biceps or whatever it was and now will have surgery. Now I'm not saying JJ will have surgery, but judging by how off the Blue Jays injury reports have been this season, one cannot help but wonder.
