  1. Could anyone imagine Farrell moving Bautista to the 2nd spot in the lineup? I couldn't
  2. Yeah, I mean, at this point if the Blue Jays gave us some meaningful games in August/September, what more could we ask for given the hole they're in? On the other hand, AA might take that and just blame injuries and bad luck for the start and keep the team intact for next year.
  3. Again, he's struggled of late. If you increase your OBP by .110 points over your BA, you're doing something right, like walking at a good % (12%?). I have to think he'll get that average up over the course of the year.
  4. Oh yeah, I agree Gose has struggled of late, but he has time to turn things around and he does take his BB which is a positive. As I said, this team will need guys like him, Pillar or Sierra to save money as bench options as well as guys like Nolin, Stroman, Hutchison to provide depth for the rotation next year with all the money committed to older players.
  5. My hope is that Nolin, Stroman (as a SP), Stilson, Jimenez and Pillar play 2 months or more in AAA. Also, Sanchez, Burns to AA, and Lopes, Osuna (not anymore with the probable TJS), and maybe Smith Jr to A+. Also, looking to see Gose, Sierra and Goins improve. They're not super prospects, but this team badly needs guys in the upper minors and as cheap bench and 4th, 5th and 6th starter options for the ML club. Also looking forward to Hutchison and Perez coming back.
  6. I've also noticed he's gotten deeper into count, one can only hope he'll get comfortable in said counts and with time, walks will follow.
  7. And down on the farm, Sean Nolin: 5IP, 4H, 0ER, 2BB, 6K. Not bad for his 2nd start, this guy keeps on striking guys gotta give him some love.
  8. I agree with this, but it must be so hard to get through to him to accept a change, the way he hits is part of his swag.
  9. The thing about Lawrie is that if hitting .170 or so doesn't humble him, what the heck will?
  10. Yeah, this was the worry about the moves and so far, gamble's not paying off.
  11. I agree, just get it over with, but I would think the player and his agent have some say in it and may be asking for 2nd opinions.
  12. Most fans here know RR didn't pitch in the minors in April because he wasn't deemed ready yet. Desperate moves call for desperate measures and that's what they made, a desperate move. Now, that's not to say RR's issues would've been fixed, it's more about how the media defers to whatever AA says without taking him to task. Same with Snider, Rasmus and Lind have gotten quite the long leash whereas Snider didn't. Maybe Snider would've busted anyway, but the last 2-3 years were perfect to settle the issue. Anyway...
  13. I have to think Gibbons will have a very short leash on Jenkins given the day off tomorrow and Dickey and Morrow back to back followed by another day off.
  14. Lind should've been hitting there, then again, he might've walked and JPA would still be hitting 5th, at least Dempster would've thrown more pitches
  15. I think you can say the same about several on this team, especially given their w-l record. Yes, I'm looking at you Bonifacio and Lawrie. Well at least Lawrie plays good D. There are some really likable moves made by Gibbons, but he does like homeruns. I'd like to think he recognizes that JPA is a liability, but I have my doubts. I mean, why is Lind not hitting cleanup and JPA is? They certainly didn't win yesterday because of their offense, hate to break it him, they won because they pitched well.
  16. How about Anthopoulos solidify 2B, C, 1b or DH first? I agree over all that the bench hasn't been strong, but he has some holes on the field and DH he hasn't addressed. Lind is being properly used by the manager so he looks better, but he should've gotten a better platoon partner no doubt.
  17. They made a mistake in bringing him up after one start in A ball, I don't care what they say. I mean they kept him from pitching even in the minors all of April and they deemed him 'ready' after 1 freakin' start in Dunedin? AA really has the media eating out of his hand, they don't question anything he says. Look at all the wrong timelines for the injuries to Lawrie, Bautista and Johnson.
  18. Gotta get to Dempster today, they let him off the hook in Toronto when they had the chance to win that series.
  19. I said earlier, low BA is what has them at the bottom of the OBP leaderboard. They are middle of the pack in BB%, tied with the Orioles and Yankees, but they're almost last in BA. Lawrie is a concern, he's been hitting the ball hard in Boston, but only 1 hit to show for it. He's one of the guys counted on to provide an above average BA, but so far he's struggled and has struck way too much. The whole team has struggled, not even hitting career averages, not sure the former batting coach is to blame.
  20. To me it starts with pitching and solid defense, having both of these components will keep you in games. Now, they've certainly gotten surprising offensive production out of Wells, Overbay and others no doubt. I was thinking though, given what they've gotten out of Wells, etc, could they have gotten more out of the guys they're replacing both on O and D? We'll have to wait and see.
  21. I think we need to look at BA also. Colby Rasmus is hitting .237 and his OBP is .310, If he was hitting .260, his OBP would be around .330. Point is that he's walking at about a league average rate, so to me he has a BA problem. JPA on the other hand, has both problems, obviously his BB% is his biggest problem, but so is his low BA.
  22. On the other hand, he let Dickey pitch to Overbay up a run in NY with a runner on and got burned. Starters haven't pitched well enough to really worry about it.
  23. He hasn't had many chances to be trigger happy or unhappy, I can think of the start in KC where he pulled Dickey. Other than that, starters haven't pitched that great, but I do think he hasn't pushed their pitch count. He probably knows they didn't get stretched out enough during ST and April was extended ST. Anyway...
