  1. I expect the Red Sox to sweep thus ending the Jays' season on May 12th. Rogers' shills have given the Red Sox extra motivation with their silly accusations. I even think Blue Jays players and managers were embarrassed by the whole incident.
  2. "They" won't bring up anyone that may force "them" to own up to their mistakes.
  3. I'm convinced the Red Sox will sweep the Blue Jays thus ending the Blue Jays' season on May 12th.
  4. Yeah, what happened to acquiring young, under control players? LOL. The offseason trades/disaster reek of Beeston calling Loria about making a deal to create a buzz. Anyway...
  5. Someone asked if things could get any worse for the Blue Jays, well, here it is staring us in the face, a PG by Jon Farrell Lester
  6. What a great starting rotation AA put together, it keeps its team in the game even when it's being perfected..
  7. Who's more confident in Ortiz than in any other Blue Jays' starter? Ok, not true, he's their third best starter...lol. Does anyone remember those threads about the Blue Jays' having a top 10 or even top 5 rotation in all of MLB? Me neither, they're easy to forget.
  8. I've felt this way all along. I mean, AA always spoke of acquiring young players under control who would be part of the team for years to come and then he goes out and does what he did? I, and suspect you as well, wouldn't be surprised if it was Beeston who contacted Jeffrey Loria to make that trade and then pushed AA to get Dickey at whatever cost just to sell hype and some tickets.
  9. It's hard to envision a winning streak with this pitching staff, but I certainly hope it happens.
  10. Also, I thought giving in to Longoria was a mistake on a 2-0 count. The same thing happened with Escobar, Delabar fell behind 3-1 and threw one down the pipe. Would Gibbons have walked Loney if Longoria was on 1st base instead of 2nd? Anyway, it's all too late now.
  11. I said when the previous homestand started that they needed to go 5-1 or 4-2. Now, after splitting in TB, they need to win the series in Boston and then have a lights out at home where they have really stunk up the joint.
  12. I completely agree about ST. This team was neither physically nor mentally prepared to start the seasons. I really got worried when the split against a White Sox team that was struggling at the time. They had just won 2-3 against the Royals and I thought, 'ok, they're coming home, they'll get their game together against the WS'. I expected 3 of 4, but they barely split the series and then lost the 1st 2 against the Yankees. Anyway, can't wait till Sanchez and Nolin pitch again.
  13. +1. The team was building up a nice core. The pitching was behind no doubt, especially with the injuries and Romero's implosion. However, overpaying in FA would've been the smart way to go.
  14. Team president shouldn't allow him to make any trades without his approval...which might be worse since Beeston is the president.
  15. If only he would catch fire and start hitting, but it ain't happening. He does lead the league in fist pumps so there's that.
  16. This is not a good pitching staff period. I think so many of us wanted to believe that JJ's injury history was behind him. That Buehrle's struggles against the ALE were a result of SSS. That Dickey would pitch almost as well as last year. That Morrow would build pitch the way he pitched last year for the whole season. That Reyes' would play all year without getting injured. We can go on and on. The offseason, ill-advised gambles are not paying off.
  17. Let's see Pillar get promoted to Buffalo and see who does better between him and Gose. Pillar got drafted in 2011, what is he supposed to do, stop trying? Pillar to AAA and Burns to AA I say, no one is saying they're #1 prospects.
  18. Disagree. But even if you make that trade, you have to get a discount on the prospects side for Reyes' and especially Buehrle's backloaded deals. I do think the moves were dictated to an extent by Beeston and upper management, but as an MLB GM, you can't take on Buehrle's contract, especially given the Marlins' history of firesales. I won't even go into the Dickey trade, it was just horrible. What made it worse was reading about how AA basically just accepted that you give up 2 top prospects for an ace without taking into account the guys' age and how the contract negotiations were going with the Mets. I don't think many would be mad about the state of the franchise if they had overspent in free agency, but to overspend in terms of prospects and $ just sets this franchise up for a rough ride, especially with the age of the team. It's basically the complete opposite of what the rebuilding plan AA laid out was supposed to be, which makes me suspicious of the goofball that is the president.
  19. Gotta give the guy credit, he may be older, but he keeps on hitting. How about this Andy Burns guy in Dunedin? He's got more BB's than K's, he'll probably get released for this.
  20. Turns out that all those stories about Lawrie's attitude weren't all bs afterall. Not saying they shouldn't have made the trade, but it looks like he doesn't realize he's hitting .160 or something like that. He's looking like the 3b version of Johnny Mac.
  21. With Ortiz going tomorrow, it'll be back to 11 games under. There will be no comeback. This team is what it is. Good teams don't make all these ridiculous waiver claims for journeymen after journeymen time and time again. We knew there were injury/age risks with all the acquisitions, then you add the bad starts by the supposed core of this team and you have a 13-24 record (after tomorrow).
  22. Lawrie's struggles are worrisome, I know he was out since early ST, but still worried about him.
