  1. The biggest hurdle would be that he'd have to give up his save celebration, or would he celebrate after every 3rd out on an inning? We know complete games would be out of the question for awhile. Tough one...
  2. Agreed. Plus, it's my impression that Gibbons is hated by the casuals who must represent 90% of the fanbase. On a related note, did Gibbons outdumb Francona or what by asking umps to check on Bauer? I mean, Francona seemed content to leave him in there. Oh well, I really don't much care about Gibbons, formerly known as Gibby around these parts.
  3. As I said, I would think "they" i.e., the f/o and coaching staff. Anyway...
  4. I would think the Jays had discussed what they'd do about Bauer. I would honestly find it odd that they wouldn't have discussed several scenarios prior to the game. Bauer had walked 2 guys and Gibbons comes out to ask that he be removed when Francona didn't? That's really something right there.
  5. Offseason baseball talk is waaayyy more fun anyways...
  6. back to back bad swings in 2-0.
  7. Stroman's fastball command seems like it's been a problem all year and cost him 2x this game. Now have to score at least 2 more times to win but it's looking bleak.
  8. Pitches getting away from Stroman.
  9. I swore they'd throw the slider in on Kipnis. Oh well...
  10. Speakin' of Ortiz, for how many seasons leading up to his retirement was Ortiz on 1-2 year contracts?
  11. They will have to do some damage against Miller/Allen/Kluber at some point or see ya next year. Let's see them get to Bauer first though. Winning a tight game where the Indians use Miller and Allen would help. Same applies to tomorrow's game. Blowing out teams ain't gonna happen.
  12. I'm often wrong but this isn't the first time Bautista has batted leadoff.
  13. Team will get creative whether 1 of or both EE/JB are back or not. Relax, it'll be alright. Replacing Donaldson would be far more difficult. They can also improve at 1B and improving on Saunders.
  14. Who's leading in the bunting dept is all I want to know.
  15. Bottomline: Jays are have to look at themselves first. They have taken hittable pitches and swung at balls in some of their at bats. JB himself I think took a 1st pitch hittable strike and ended up striking out against Tomlin. Anyway, no matter what happens, hard to dislike the Indians so kudos to them if they advance.
  16. Just win. Too bad Travis is injured. I remember that bomb he hit off Bauer. Alright.
  17. I wish he hadn't opened his mouth for sure even though the Jays have been getting screwed since last year's game 6 against the Royals. However, going public does nothing and may even piss off Cleveland players who knows. F/O should be the one sending compaints to Commish behind the scenes.
  18. Despair them with a 4 year offer, 2 years for each!
  19. Trade him for JD 2.0... like Lawrie? In all seriousness, I wish him a quick and full recovery.
  20. Plus, hasn't Martin had a sore knee for a while? Anyway, good job Gibby for finally batting Tulo ahead of Martin.
  21. I enjoyed the game even if it was frustrating to watch Kluber slide his way out of some trouble early in the game, kudos to him. Bautista was definitely hurt by 2 terrible strike calls but that's what terrible umps do. Like others, I thought Donaldson should have scored in the 1st but it's one of those plays where we'd be blasting Rivera had he been thrown out at the plate. I also thought Pillar didn't run hard out of the box on that great play by Kipnis thinking it was a single all the way. Anyway, I've totally enjoyed the end to the regular season and the playoffs and hope today is another exciting game.
  22. He's 31, it would be an errand decision to extent him.
  23. 2 pitches to Lucroy seemed to be hangers that he missed. I could see Moreland being the hero here.
  24. Good info, thanks. So Blue Jays are Peter and the other content is Paul? I certainly don't know if profits increase that much because of fielding a contending team. I thik I should have said 'in fact, they could go hand in hand either way'. It's also certainly true that fans will desert the team as soon as it goes through a rough stretch again. I think team has been fine over the last 3/4 years and is fine going forward. Also, very good point regarding franchise valuation and I find that 2012 report you cited quite interesting in terms of how aggressive they became late that year. Anyway, we'll see what happens...
