  1. I agree with you. I never said 7 games were impossible to overcome. The point was that they put themselves in such a hole, by being 11 games under .500, that they'll spend the next few weeks just trying to get back to .500. It's not just about getting back to .500 because .500 won't get you in the playoffs, but I'm hoping they get to .500 by mid June or so and then they'd be another winning streak from being right in it. At this point, if they were to play meaningful games in August and September, I'll take that.
  2. I've seen almost every game this year, so yes I've seen it all. The team wasn't ready to start the season, it was clear to me and others. They certainly have dug themselves a big hole, I don't know what's outrageous about what I said. They were 11 games under .500 and now it's down to 7 games under, the point was that it was such a big hole they dug for themselves that after winning 7 of 10, they're still 7 games under with a tough schedule coming up. They have to win series after series and we'll see where that takes them by the end of the month or mid June. I'm hoping they get to .500 by mid June, we'll see what happens.
  3. The sad thing is that the Blue Jays are still 7 games under .500....what an abyss they dug for themselves.
  4. I wish Happ well, but imagine if they get JJ back...better off if they get both back really.
  5. Well, the way in baseball works is that when some guys are hot, others are cold and since Reyes was hot at the start of the year, he might be the one in a slump at this point lol.
  6. I expect Ortiz to get shelled and I don't think Vogelsong is as bad as he's been this year. Let's hope he waits another start to turn things around and Ortiz benefits from pitching after Dickey even if it didn't help Lincoln last night.
  7. Arencibia hitting cleanup again. I get the feeling Gibbons loves the guys power. Anyway, I hope it works out.
  8. I doubt they call him up now with Izturis showing improvement and even Bonifiasco having a couple decent games at the plate.
  9. We'll see what happens, but why wasn't he stretched out a bit more in ExST, didn't he make an appearance with the Jays in ST?
  10. Agree with this. Win a few series in a row, especially against the Yankees, Rays and Orioles and then see where that gets them by June 1st. I just don't see this rotation being capable of allowing the team to get on a roll. If they get JJ back by the end of the month or June 1st, then that's great. If they get to .500 by mid June and then get Reyes back, I'll be ok with that. Being a few games over .500 by end of July would put them a within a 5-8 game winning streak of being right at the top of the WC race, this is all I can ask for at this point given the awful start and the injuries to the rotation.
  11. I was thinking, they brought up Lawrie before he got many at-bats in the minors, would they do the same with Reyes? I would as long as he's been cleared to resume playing. I would be tempted to give him 3-5 games in the minors and let him regain his timing in MLB.
  12. I would think it's easier to 'shrink' him in from a starter to a reliever than to stretch him out from a reliever to a starter. Again, if they planned on having him start at all, why wouldn't he have started in the minors. All signs point to him being in the bullpen. I even seem to remember Gibbons (?) saying he'd pitch out of the BP. Stilson also debuted yesterday out of the bullpen which is where they plan on keeping him. Stroman is a guy they're going to try as a starter and if he struggles, they know he can always go back to being a reliever, much easier to do.
  13. It seems to me McGowan will be a bullpen option. Don't you guys think that McGowan would've started the game if the Jays planned on having him start in MLB after participating in ST and staying in ExST for all of April and half of May? Why would he only pitch 1 inning? He's eligible to come off the DL on May 30th, so are 2 weeks enough for him to build up from 1 inning to 6 innings? Doubt it. Look at JJ, he hasn't pitched since April 21st or something and he won't be back till June. McGowan is coming out of the BP.
  14. Agreed on Stroman, not sure McGowan will be a starting option because he only pitched 1 inning on his debut. After being in EXST throughout April and even having pitched in ST with the Jays, don't you think he would've started the game? Regardless, great to see him pitching again, if he can start, then great, but he would also seem like a faptastic option out of the bullpen. I would also add that Stilson isn't being mentioned as much as he should. He's been moved to the BP and this is where most saw him at the time he was drafted given his the injury concerns. So I think Stilson and Carreno replace Stroman in terms of being viewed as bullpen options with Stroman starting. If Nolin continues to progress and Stroman pitches well as a starter, then you add Hutchison and you may have 2-3 options for next year and possibly a couple of starts this year instead of the Ortizes of the world.
  15. Who knows what they're doing with him. If he was going to be a starter, you would think he would've pitched more than 1 inning. On the other hand, given the news on Santos, he'd be a welcome addition to the bullpen. Maybe Stilson can move quickly now that he's been moved to the BP and also made his season debut tonight.

I hope what's his name behind the bench doesn't blame Gardiner for that ot goal. He outworked the Boston forward in front of the net for that puck and was just trying to throw it to the side, there was a Leaf player that instead of guarding Bergeron, was going to the net. Gardiner was terrific
  17. Gose off to a horrible start in May. Good outing by Norris for a change. Sanchez didn't have a Sanchez type outing, but at least he got his work in, I think he got 8GO and 3FO and I think he still hasn't given up a HR. When is this Andy Burns guy gonna be promoted? Dwight Smith Jr seems to be off to a good start.
  18. Didn't take him long to cut ties with Aviles
  19. Yeah, but like the drunk Indians fan said on the movie "they'll blow it anyway"...lol. Seriously though, I agree, but my big concern is that with a good stretch AA may sell off what little's left down on the farm for another 30something year old. No doubt we're all just waiting for that 20 game stretch where they go 15-5 or 14-6 to get back in it.
  20. I don't know if it's worth giving a shot, I just realized the Blue Jays are 5 games behind the 4th place Rays, might be better to tank for the #1 pick.
  21. Let's settle this whole argument by agreeing that who's not only on first, but who's batting first too?
  22. LOL, yeah, that's the thing, he loves homers.
