  1. That would give him 2 months in NH and if he does well there, he could start next year at AAA. Anyway, we need Nolin, Stilson, Stroman and Jimenez back in NH so that AA can trade them for a middle reliever...lol, kidding! But seriously, too bad Nolin and Stilson are on the DL, they are missing out on some good development time. At least Stroman should be back in like 10 games.
  2. LOL, that made me laugh. Could be a good plot for a movie.
  3. When you put it that way, the organization doesn't look as horrible after the trades. Sanchez does have a chance of starting next year in AAA, I can't remember where, but I read somewhere that with a few more good starts, he could be promoted to NH and if he does well there, he could start next year in AAA. Even though I didn't like the trades in the offseason, the team did need to acquire ML starters, especially after the injuries to Hutchison and Drabek, even though Drabek was bad, and Romero's disastrous season. I just wish they had gone after younger, controllable players (like AA used to preach), or the FA route and kept the prospects, imagine the guys you mention above plus Nicolino, Syndergaard, Hech, Gose and D'Arnaud. AA was building a nice nucleus with Lawrie already in teh bigs. The pitching was behind though and it showed last year. Anyway, at least there are some arms moving up.
  4. I knew they were injured, I just haven't seen any updates on their injuries and when they'd be back. And, like you, I can't wait till they're all back in NH, they'll be very important going forward and if they were all to start next year at AAA, along with Stroman, it would be huge for the organization.
  5. Anyone seen updates on Nolin and Stilson? I know A.J. Jimenez is back playing in Dunedin, I would think he'll be up in NH since that's where he ended up last year. I just haven't seen anything on Nolin and Stilson.
  6. lol, true. Or trading Sanchez for a middle reliever AA.
  7. They had some of the starters throwing in minor league games late in ST. To me, the team didn't look ready from the first series/homestand, it just didn't. Can't do anything about it now other than correct it going forward, but AA seems to be asleep.
  8. Did you have to remind us of the 11-21 record? LOL, I was getting excited for a bit, that brought me back to reality. Still on pace for a top 3 pick.
  9. He keeps hitting and blue jays will need all cheap productive options they can get in the next 2-3 years with the salaries they have taken on and he just keeps on doing what he's supposed to do to move up in the minors.
  10. 24 this year, not saying he's a top prospect, but he could be a cheap 4th OF option. He was drafted in the 32nd round in 2011 and has moved quickly. Just move him to AAA if he keeps this up. Anyway, it's always good to see an organization draft a guy in the 32nd round that makes it...now if they could only not blow their early round picks...lol.
  11. I noticed that. I do like him and Pillar just keeps on hitting in AA, they both could be cheap backup if/of options...unless some GM wants to treat them as top prospects and take them for a starting 2b!
  12. I just don't know why he wouldn't be leading off.
  13. I don't know if anyone else has mentioned this, but Gose has hit 2nd all year, grooming him to hit 2nd in Toronto behind Reyes?
  14. The way Pillar is hitting, he should be in Buffalo soon, shouldn't he?
  15. I've noticed the same plus all the trips to the mound by JPA. There was a slider that broke over the middle of the plate and the way JPA caught it, it made it look like a clear ball when it was a strike, easy call for the umpire for a ball. I think on the next pitch, another slider, JPA was standing up and the pitch broke down, wasn't nearly as out of the zone as it looked, but when the catcher is standing up to catch it, it's an easy ball call for the ump. Anyway...
  16. Why not? I thought we were playing for the #1 pick this year, at least the lineup makes me think so.
  17. I'd say keep Bautista, Reyes and Dickey as well and go for the retool unless you can get good value in return. Getting rid of salaries will be the key, Buehrle's especially. If Happ has a decent year, you might be able to get a decent return. Guys like Nolin, Stroman and maybe even Sanchez (outside chance) could start next year at AAA. Stilson might be a fulltime reliever by next year. They can't blow the #10 pick this year, it's a very important draft. Hutchison could replace Buehrle and sign a couple of free agents. If you improve the DH production, you can live with maybe a Goins at 2B. Haven't looked at what $$ would be available. Maybe move Rasmus, Gose should be ready by next year, if not later on this year. Cabrera won't bring you much in return and his deal ain't horrible, it's a 2 year deal.
  18. I think I read where Gibbons said he liked to have a set lineup everyday. Certainly the injuries have forced him to make changes, plus AA has given him a crappy bench. I read some quotes from AA saying part of the reason he's claiming so many guys is because he promised the Buffalo owners he'd do whatever he could to give them a competitive team...we'll he's succeeding in Buffalo, but not in Toronto.
  19. Watch how a day will turn into 2 then 3 then a week, then a dl stint. Shouldn't there be an injury-thread?
  20. Yeah, me neither. AA jumped the gun or was told to do so to create a buzz and sell tickets. Let's hope they go on a 20-10 stretch to at least build some value and give the team a chance to play some interesting games in August/September. Even if they get hot, I still feel 1 or 2 of Buherle, Happ, Johnson and Romero should be traded to dump some salary and possibly plug other holes. You can add Lind, Rasmus, Bonifacio, Davis, to that list, if you can get a bag of balls, you do it.
  21. Somehow I agree...lol, even though my rants suggest otherwise. Today's lineup is horrible, but if they can't beat up on Joe Saunders...well, not much to say about that. At this point, let's hope they all start to play to their potential and AA realizes he made mistakes and gets rid of a few guys in june/july.
  22. You're right, but I was referring to 'true fans' not the casuals. Regardless, I'm not a Gibbons detractor. I did think during the first homestand that the team wasn't ready for the season, but my gripe starts with AA he made the decisions from the manager and all rookie coaching staff to the roster.
  23. I think it's safe to start hoping for better performances from Buehrle, Johnson, Romero, Happ, Rasmus, Lind and a couple others so they can get a couple B prospects in return. But AA will probably use that to say 'see, I told you they'd start playing better' and not do anything, in fact he may trade Sanchez and Osuna for another middle reliever to compensate for previous failed middle relief acquisitions.
  24. LOL, not to mention John Buck, at least you could get a bag of balls for him or trade JPA for some batting practice balls and platoon Buck and Thole without hurting anyone's feelings.
  25. I'll go along to get along...daily! The postgame recap/analysis sounds good as well, but I guess it could all be part of the GDT.
