  1. wow, 4/64 for Moustakas
  2. Good for Moose for finally getting that long-term contract.
  3. That's racist.
  4. Non-tender deadline is today at 8PM ET. Hopefully it's the end of Drury, Law, and Maile.
  5. I just looked at Keuchel's FG depth chart projection. He should get more than Cole.
  6. The Blue Jays aren't a team without talent. Vlad, Biggio, Bichette, LGJ, and the catchers are one of the highest-upside young cores in the game. It would be completely absurd for that core to push hard this year only to see the team win 82 games because Ross Atkins didn't have the balls to add talent this offseason. It would be a waste of a prime year of control of multiple good young players, and a waste of a year that could have been spent rebuilding fan interest. If the core thrives, we have a team that is playing meaningful baseball games all year. And if the core fails, the team has much bigger problems than a few short- or medium-term FA contracts signed this offseason. In the last few years alone we've seen the Cubs and Braves contend a year before people thought their rebuilds were finished, the Brewers, Rays and A's build elite teams that nobody thought would be elite, and the Twins topple the Indians as the best team in the ALC, seemingly out of nowhere. The idea that Toronto's core isn't good enough to supplement with FA talent doesn't make any sense to me.
  7. I have no plans to change the flexible cut down limits.
  8. This was both a good read and a shameless play at securing another poster of the year award.

I'm guessing they came to a settlement on his remaining salary, and that this is the real reason why the process took four days.
  10. I have some end of roster bats available for picks or back end starters: Hunter Pence Howie Kendrick Marwin Gonzalez Brandon Belt Robinson Chirinos
  11. There's a ton of overlap between BORED and DDL owners, so we're proposing rule changes that mirror the new DDL rules. I will now plagiarize njh: - We will have unregulated promotion and demotion from/to the MiLB roster (in Fantrax you can't demote unless they have a green flag; in Fantrax if an MiLB player loses their flag it does not lock your roster). - Waiver draft eligibility will be changed to only include prospects who played in AAA in the previous year (or a prior year). - Free agent eligibility will be changed to only include players with MLB service time. Players making their debut will be eligible to be added at 8PM EST on the day following their first active day on the 25 man roster. If desired, an owner can request before the 8PM EST eligibility time that a commissioner place a debuting player on "debut waivers." A commissioner who places a player on debut waivers has to announce it in this thread. There is no general obligation to use debut waivers, which is an accommodation for owners who can't compete for an 8PM EST add, but there is an obligation for commissioners to respond to requests for debut waivers. - The only time mandatory promotion thresholds will apply is at the February cut deadline. The thresholds have been increased to 1000 PA and 50 (GS + half of relief appearances). The point of this is to eliminate owners using the MiLB rosters as a loophole to keep an additional MLB player, if that player happened to have a green flag near the end of the season and was therefore able to be demoted. There are some minor things we'd probably have done a bit differently if the DDL didn't have these rules, but with so many owners participating in both leagues, I think it's best to just have one set of rules to remember when it comes to procedural stuff like this. As always, open for discussion.
  12. I haven't seen data on this, but it seems like more fringe guys are choosing Korea and Japan over MiLB deals this year.
  13. https://www.sportsnet.ca/baseball/mlb/blue-jays-interest-gibson-odorizzi-need-pivot-bolster-staff/ Jays made an offer of Gibson.
  14. There's that option, but also using Villar as a super-utility type. We know he can play 2B and SS. Get him reps at 3B and OF too.
  15. I'm having a hard time understanding why nobody wanted Villar for 1/10.5 or whatever he's going to make in arb.
  16. Apparently Pomeranz got 4 years at 8-9M per year.
  17. Yeah. Initial reaction seems to be that Texas overpaid, but I'd be thrilled if Shatkins had signed him to these terms.
  18. 3/30 for Gibson, and now Pomeranz to the Padres. Everything is happening.
  19. This trade seems like a heist for Milwaukee. I would have though Lauer was more valuable than Davies, and Urias more valuable than Grisham.
  20. f***, Gibson to Texas. I thought he was one of the best targets for Toronto
  21. Who set the order? It doesn't match the order in the Draft tab of the league setup options, which is weird.
  22. Mariners get Graveman for a 1/2 guarantee and a 3.5M team option for 2021. Pretty good signing.
  23. Imagine the effort to process that on the sheet!
  24. Yeah. I think baseball is healthier when more than a handful of teams are trying to win, and the entire offseason narrative isn't about teams not wanting to pay FAs. Hopefully it's more than just the Sox and Braves that spend aggressively to improve their teams.
  25. IIRC all four FA signings so far have exceeded median FG crowdsourced projections. I like it.
