Simple question. It's boring and I hate Roark, but it gets a pass from me. He raises the floor on a rotation that badly needed it, and reliable 2-win starters don't grow on trees.

Urena's continued presence on this roster is annoying to me. He's not good, and serves no purpose now that he's out of options. Same for Breyvic Valera. I at least understand why they'd hold on Alford, because there are tools and upside there.

I bet he'd be a monster reliever. If the fastball gains a couple of ticks it's 97 with a very good slider and a changeup that's better than most reliever's 3rd pitch, and he has pretty decent control.

Yup. They're all in now with Trout and Rendon locked up to mega deals. The rotation actually has some upside with Heaney, Ohtani, and Canning, but they need one more good SP.

I owned him in BORED and have seen him probably 15 times in the last couple years. It sucks watching him because he doesn't really do anything well. Fastball is pedestrian, breaking stuff is ugly and doesn't really generate whiffs, he doesn't get a lot of groundballs, he doesn't generate soft contact. He looks like a deer in the headlights when people aren't biting on his s***** stuff. I can't really think of a starter who's at least league average that I enjoy watching less than Roark. Maybe Wade Miley?

Someone mentioned RA Dickey above, and it’s a perfect comp. He’ll shitball his away to a couple WAR and nobody will enjoy watching it.

Roark will chew up innings at close to a league-average rate for the next two years. Watching him pitch is painful because his stuff is absolute trash. This isn't sexy at all, but he'll probably earn his salary.

So the Blue Jays were intrigued by Lindblom's spin rates or whatever and couldn't pony up a 3-year deal at slightly more than Brandon Drury money? Pretty disappointing given that we're being priced out of the market for a bunch of other starters.

I have zero recollection of Caleb Smith belonging to the Yankees.

The team can just shift him to the pen to follow an opener if he's healthy all year. They didn't sign him to his contract, so it would be hard to blame them for not honouring the spirit of the deal. The Dodgers have been doing the same thing to Kenta Maeda for years, and they're the ones who agreed to terms with him.

Happ isn't going to stand between the Yankees and Cole if they can otherwise find common terms. That really shouldn't factor into Toronto's decision at all.

Yup. Happ is probably worth about 10M on the open market, and he's owed 17. He fills a rotation spot on 1-year commitment, and eating like 7M in sunk cost should net the team a decent asset. Just don't let him start 27 games.
