  1. Christ almighty that looks stupid
  2. This is why I don't understand the people who say things like "Rogers will never pay for a top free agent". As far as I'm aware, Rogers would typically dictate total expenditures and let the particulars be dictated by baseball ops. We have to assume payroll will eventually be back in the 160 range, and the team can absolutely afford a 30M arm with a 160M payroll. Washington is in that payroll range right now and they're rostering three elite arms on free agent contracts. I don't think Rogers would be an impediment to signing Gerrit Cole.
  3. BTW I just set max weekly adds at 5. I'm assuming the lack of limit was just an omission.
  4. He is not a likeable person at all.
  5. There isn't a single ace available next offseason (depending on what you think of Bauer and Paxton). The time is now to take a run at Cole or Strasburg. It's one thing if they don't want to come here, but the idea that we shouldn't sign an ace because contention is more likely in 2021 than 2020 would be defeatist, weak leadership.
  6. Well, we all expect the Jays to sign a couple of Tanner Roarks and a few cheap relievers and lose 90 games next year, so this article isn't really surprising. Too passive.
  7. Surely this pound of flesh will improve the lives of the internet commentators who are in no way associated with the Astros, but still really, really wanted their AGM fired.
  8. I'm a pretty firm believer that no team should rely on pitching prospects. If you think you have the bats now, go out and get a rotation. If more than one of Pearson, Manoah, and SWR pan out, that's a bonus, but we shouldn't count on it because it's probably not going to happen.
  9. Is anyone else having a hard time understanding the moral panic about this story? Apparently one of the reporters in the room tweets the domestic abuse hotline number every time Osuna pitches. I'm guessing some comments were made about the blown save, and the drunk AGM was annoyed, and emboldened enough to defend him in a brash way. Uncomfortable workplace interaction, but its a team employee stating that he's happy that a current Astro is a current Astro. This isn't a story.
  10. I know we're only one day in, but I feel like I'm going to like fantasy basketball more than fantasy hockey. There's a much bigger analytical component, and players have meaningful events very frequently, which is fun.
  11. Carlos Danger is going to be taking over for Pendleton

Dominating the regular season? The Leafs haven’t finished higher than 3rd in their division in almost 20 years lol

Tavares out at least two weeks.
  14. TBH I was kinda embarrassed about picking that fight, so I was hoping nobody would recognize that it was me that called him out.
  15. It's not that the bold prediction was wrong or bad, it's that he's too arrogant to acknowledge that the prediction was wrong, and is claiming to have "spiked" the prediction of Beede being a relevant fantasy starter in 12-team leagues.
  16. Fangraphs writer Brad Johnson is embarrassing himself. Read the Beede part and then his last post in the comments. https://fantasy.fangraphs.com/brad-johnsons-10-bold-predictions-a-review/

The Lightning are absolutely humiliating themselves. Thoroughly outplayed by Ottawa.
  18. Imagine wanting to engage with Boxy not only on this forum, but outside of it as well.
  19. Not what he said.
  20. Yup. Imagine a team like Houston or New York just accepting Brandon Drury and offering him $2.5M to stick around for no other reason than that he's already here.
  21. 2 years @ 3.5M a year got Washington Howie Kendrick coming off a 1.7 win season, and 1 year @ 2.5 got the Reds Jose Iglesias. I feel like 2.5M gets you most of the way to at least a few of the boring vet infielders on the market: Kendrick Gyorko Gennett Kipnis Holt Iglesias Ass Dribble Drury is a minor league contract guy
  22. Drury has played 48 innings at SS in his MLB career, and his bat doesn't play at 1B, so its pretty irrelevant that he can defend the position.
  23. Very smart, beating everyone to the punch.
  24. Pass on everyone except Giles and Shoemaker for me.
  25. I appreciated you adding the 500 players Spanky.
