I haven't seen any stuff reports as of yet but I'm happy he even managed to successfully complete two innings so far.

Yeah, would be nice to see where rhe stuff is sitting. Probably give him a good 7-10 outings before even trying to judge though

You might be right.   Willie Canate there will never be another.

Tucker Toman though man.  If he did hit like this the rest of the year like with some of it in New Hampshire... do the Rockies have anything better to do?

Looking at some older video of Toman shows he has changed his stance a bit this season.prebuosuky he was standing very upright in the box whereas now he's leaning in and a bit more compact.

The HRs he's been hitting lately aren't wallscrapers either, they've been big boy HRs waaay out of the park

Not super interesting yet but the 22 year old Italian catcher they signed this year has 6 HR in his first 50 PA at the complex. He should probably be bumped up a level.

Yea he is killing it. I feel like they have to move him up. Rojas is also doing well.

I mean, he's probably a nothing burger long term, but how many catchers does the complex team even need?

Besides, he doesnt even have to change anything other than when to show up at the park.

Thompson Jr with 5 more shutout innings in New Hampshire in his second start there. 1 hit and 2 BB allowed against 4 K.

Brings him up to 9 shutout innings over his first 2 starts. Only 1 hit allowed. That doesnt suck

Dunedin is a pretty exciting team

3 of the 10 youngest players in the FSL are on Dunedin. JoJo, Juan Sanchez, and Bullard. Sanchez and Elian Pena are the two youngest in the league.

If there is ever a time to cherry pick a sample, it is probably to throw out the first few stateside weeks of pro ball for an 18 year old Dominikid

No.  If intimidated by crocodile wrestling MAGAs in bikinis and unable to navigate Walmart and that in turn effects ability to hit baseball, that will rear it's head again.   What happens after his first paternity suit?    Or he goes 2 for 24 first week in the majors?  Or he bets on his own game and thinks his bookie might rat him?   Or he signs a 400 million dollar contract and slumps?   Kind of think if he was weirded out by Florida to the extent it effected his hitting that will show again.

Better long term indicator if the slump was just random.

Juan Sanchez is a pretty good minor league hitter .296    .386    .485 even with his early season slump.

I think career rates, including Dominican and morning Florida leagues are the best way to evaluate a guy, include the good and the bad.

But are we thinking Sanchez is even better?  Like .350 .450 .600 ??

Discounting his bad month would probably put him at legendary once in a generation level.   If you guys are right then the outcome would be that he is knocking on the door in 2028.

Like if you discount his slump he's Vlad level.  Actually he could be here next July (Vlad was ready then but hurt his knee),

Now if we include his slump, he's a good, but not legendary prospect.  And there will be some ups and downs and he'll take a bit longer.

Jay Harry with a double and a homer tonight. Just on an insane tear.

also, Lenyn Sosa had an error and 2ks in his rehab assignment.

Sosa has to be a release when his timer is up unless every other IF option is dead or dying of Ebola

Moon with a good outing, 3.2 IP, 3 hits, 1BB, 1ER and 6 K

Arias heating up in AA after a slow April and May, .845 OPS in June

Harry and Keys are still on fire in Buffalo

Parker and Sanchez on the right track for Dunedin.

Perry hitting his first stretch of trouble at Vancouver with 10 ER allowed in his last 3 starts. Still racking up Ks though.

King still good. Thompson Jr moved up to AA and doing well (SSS)

All in all theres alot to like at pretty much every level.

The farm is healthy, vibrant, vivacious, blooming, exciting.

The MLB team is the damn near opposite and SOMEHOW in a wild card spot.

I'm sure Atkins will start trading the farm guys so he can keep Sanchez and Sosa on the roster.  I'm waiting to hear that Keys was traded for some random bullpen pitcher in his never ending quest to assemble a bullpen.

Sure Atkins has a history of trading high end minor league bats for random relief pitchers.

I do think they will trade Keys tbh. But the trades have been pretty good lately.

He had two homers today.

Keys and Perry traded to Florida for Alcantara.  Keys leads Marlins to playoffs with 20 homers in August and September then becomes their Ben Rice.

Seriously though, assume George Springer is not on the team next year and that Guerrero has an injury and issues that may require DL stints and load management and 2 months off for swing reconstruction.

Is Keys the guy to take Springer's spot and backup Guerrero, especially if they go to a load management system?  If you want to trade Keys, then who do you think gets this role?

Another random bullpen arm like Varland - who you'd never heard of last year?

I’d guess okamoto and barger covers third?

It depends on the read on keys. He is supposedly a very hard worker. If they think he could be a 45 at third and corner outfield by next year, I’d keep him.

It’s still a ton of lefties tho.

Keys and Harry with homers for Buffalo tonight. They are discussing working out Keys at 2nd base.

Stanifer with a good one:

Man Keys is making an insistent case for promotion.

I have no idea what to think of Harry. He just keeps doing it.

One would assume Keys takes the place of Sanchez, and also rotates through DH. Same amount of lefties in that case.

Yea but Sanchez to some level plays corner outfield and keys doesn’t currently.

For this year.  Also thinking ahead to next year when there is (presumably) no Springer.  Keys/Oak/Vlad for DH, 1B, and 3b.

MLB teams usually don’t pencil in rookies as DHs as one of their primary roles.

I think he needs either 2B or the corner outfield.

It’s kind of interesting with driveline and stuff… maybe the next great frontier is defense. The ability to get defensive grades up like one grade on a regular basis would be game changing.

Varsho is a FA, Lukes is old, Barger might end up missing a huge chunk of 2026, and Santander will have missed most of the last two seasons. There will definitely be room in the OF next season. If Keys can play LF even competently, then it's probably worth exploring rather than another Horwitz experiment putting a 1B at 2B.

They’ll try second first just because that is way more valuable.
