I’d say both of them will make the league in some capacity just because 4th outfielders are useful, especially with speed and defense. But yea, the chances of him like being valuable… I dunno. I don’t know if I believe age to level ALWAYS especially when he really hasn’t been in pro ball much yet but we’ll see how it goes.

I think bigger picture I’m liking the type of guys we are drafting. At the end of the day you kind of need to draft or trade for CFs. There aren’t many in free agency who are above average there, I’m happy we are getting some athletes.

Cook has one of the wider ranges of potential incomes I can recall in recent memory. Of course he could flame out completely but there are several pathways to reaching MLB. He's already reportedly a plus plus center field defender with 80 grade speed and he's made strides with his baserunning. It's a pretty low offensive bar that he'll be required to reach to at least earn a cup of coffee as a 5th outfielder/pinch runner type of player. If he reverts to the slap hitting style he employed in college this could open the door to more of a 4th outfielder role potentially in a platoon if this clicks and perhaps even a low end starter's role, and if the new approach clicks to any degree the guy has various degrees of star potential.

The minors have been really fun this year as there have just been a lot of good performances and guys popping up. 

Austin Cates (who I think was tstats sleeper pitcher for our system) has been great over his last three starts. 

Jay Harry is playing seemingly every position (everything except catcher, 3rd and first) and is having a power explosion. I’m not sure how much I believe that given his history but who knows. His versatility on defense seems useful. 

Then the complex league team is dominating (they do seem to have had some help from rehabbers playing with them). Guzman is off to a super hot start. Not sure what his deal is other than he is playing second mostly which either means he can’t play short or they have a prospect they like better playing there. He’s 19 as is Owen Gregg, undrafted Canadian also on a heater. Then there is the Italian pitcher Taschin (sp?) who is also killing in the fcl. I wonder if and when they get moved up. Gregg seems blocked positionally somewhat. 

I also think seeing pinango and Valenzuela perform in the majors has made me pay attention to guys I barely thought about before.

Also,,, Owen Casey and Sam Shaw, two guys I really liked last year are back. Casey looked really good in a short stint in Vancouver last year.

Probably yeah. There is clearly something wrong with him. Probably dead arm, pain, or the stuff is not there.

Tiedemann (elbow) continues to throw bullpen sessions at the Blue Jays' spring training complex and is close to throwing a live batting practice session, Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet.ca reports.

Tiedemann will face hitters 2-4 times before being cleared to pitch in games if all goes well. The left-hander missed all of 2025 after Tommy John surgery and was shut down during spring training due to further elbow soreness. Tiedemann is unlikely to become an option for the Blue Jays before the second half.

Do you think they've reached the releiver or bust stage with Tiedemann? Or do they keep trying to push him as an eventual starting option?

zero chance he starts

okay maybe 2% chance but it would be more of a gradual increase in innings over time, in MLB, starting with bullpen work

I think it will be a miracle if he throws more than 25 innings at the ML level in his career.  He's a bust.

He will end up like Manoah, he shouldn't be considered anymore like a top prospect.

What prospects from Japan? The only guys signed from there the vast majority of the time are pros

The last high school kid signed from Japan was done by Oakland and i think another is in the NCAA waiting to be draft eligible.

Sasaki just didnt wait until he could be posted so had to be signed under amateur international free agent rules, but he was already a pro

Yes, but young players who never pitched in MLB before they sign. It's different than signing older guys like Murakami, Okamoto, Senga.

Doug Fox had a recent Star article where he suggests Tiedemann started throwing bullpen sessions at the end of May and that barring setbacks he has a chance to start a rehab assignment in mid June. He'll need to actually stay healthy enough to pitch in games but he's not dead yet.

.243 .318 .390 career minor leaguer and was mostly awful before this year.

.330 .360 .580 this year, so maybe something clicked.   

Sean Keys had his first buffalo homerun this year.  Up to .246 .380 .465 career, .290 .416 .590 this year.

The most tantalizing thing about Harry is that he is a true non catcher utility. He has played every position other than third and first this year and seeing as he has played SS loads, presumably with some reps he could play those as well. That obviously could help someone get a spot in a 26 man squad, especially if he is a 50 at SS and CF. 

I’m pretty skeptical of a guy who basically couldn’t hit forever now being able to hit though.

Maybe.  Looks like he has never played anywhere except 3rd and 1st which could limit his playing time in Toronto the next couple of years.  Though I guess DH will be open next year.

I wonder if his range and speed are awful.   You would think Jays would give him occasional reps at 2b and left field if it was at all feasible for him to play there.  

On the other hand would be nice on days like the last two to have a real bat to sub in for Vlad.

Keys feels like a keeper to me but the club will need to find a position for him to play in the majors. First base and third base are largely occupied and it appears as though he may not possess the requisite athleticism to play the outfield as he's received a 40 grade for speed from MLB Pipeline and 30 grade from Fangraphs.

Davis Schneider could be a release candidate too if he doesn't turn things around.  Can only hit .150 for so long before you get replaced. Rooting for him though

I know absolutely nothing about Jay Harry, but if he can play all these positions, he's probably athletic.  If he's athletic, there's a possibility he got to work in a lab and made tangible changes that have unlocked new offensive ability.  Fingers crossed!
