Drake Baldwin: new BCIB?

image.png.367eff42bd6f33fc1d53a9b3c748b693.png

The defense is nothing impressive, but the offense might be getting better from last season, and the projections are buying it. Gen-Z Will Smith?

The hipster answer to this is Dillon Dingler btw. Elite defense combined with 99th percentile xwOBA?

The hitting doesn't seem sustainable though, his top end exit velo is not elite and the projections don't love him, so how long can he keep pummeling the baseball with like 50 grade power? Is the hit tool better than advertised?

Plus at least a 70 grade name.

JR Ritchie debut today, gave up a home run to James Woods on the 1st pitch, then he settled down 7IP, 7K, 2runs for the win.  Braves 7 - Nats 2

The Mets:lol:

I picked up tickets to see them against the Jays at the end of June. Thought I would be watching an elite team.:P

Should have waited. Tickets will probably be cheaper on StubHub or SeatGeek closer to the games.

I never buy that far in advance. Always wait day off if I'm travelling on the road to see a ballgame. Especially Yankees/Mets tickets are usually cheaper resale than from the box office.

Phillies are 8-18 with a -53 run differential. Currently on a 10 game losing streak. Doubling down on that aging core and then just adding Adolis Garcia to the outfield thinking that would fix everything certainly hasn’t aged well. Losing the World Series in 2022 and then losing in the NLCS to the most mediocre team imaginable looks like their only shot with that group. Not sure how they fix it. There’s still a lot of time to turns things around this season and maybe they do but sure feels like the end of the road for that core group. Lots of money and years left on most of those players as well.

Also means the GM has no one left to blame if they continue to suck

The Phillies have been really disappointing.

I thought their pitching would make them the team to beat in that division, especially with Atlanta’s rotation already depleted by injuries to start the season.

I still expect them to turn it around, but they need to start doing that soon. There’s too much talent on that roster for them to be irrelevant, unless all of their stars regress at the same time.

Long term, though, the bigger issue is that they have an aging and expensive core. Their window is probably only another year or two - maybe even less if these early-season struggles turn out to be more than just a rough start.

Romano DFA'd

I imagine he might bounce around a bit. I wouldn't be opposed to a minor league deal just to have another leverage arm with experience.
