Its actually remarkable how many top prospects have failed for the Cards over the last 10-15 years. And the only one that actually looked good died in a car crash.

Something is wrong with that development staff

Weren’t there a lot of prominent posters on here who were obsessed with the Cards front office years ago?

I think that was largely ironic or sardonic.

Cards used to be too proud of their old school system and ways of doing things. The Cardinal Way, all that crap. Outsiders kind of always saw it as BS.

Between 2000 and 2015, they went to the playoffs in 12 of 16 seasons, won the World Series twice and lost in the finals twice.  They were a great organization - albeit one that had their own model and were very rigid about it - something that is now seemingly hurting them.

They also stole Chris Carpenter from the Jays and turned him into an ace - which Jays fans remain bitter about.

Just realized tomorrow night's season opener is exclusively on Netflix, lol

I’m either going to try to find a bar that has Netflix, or just suck it up and pay for a month.

They also have one of the best-looking jerseys in baseball.

Busch Stadium is still on my TDL.

Great story about Busch Stadium that I love... the Busch family of course owns Budweiser and the Cardinals, and wanted to call it Budweiser Stadium. MLB wouldnt let them so they named it after the family instead.....Busch Stadium.... and then created a new line of beer called Busch after the fact.

The old middle finger to MLB!

Took my now deceased father there for the World Series in 2011

Great stadium. Great fans. (Who dad and I interacted with a lot and at that point were quite happy their team had traded Colby Rasmus for bullpen help)

Definitely some of the fondest memories I'll ever have :)

Yeah and something happened around the 2012/13 timeframe, as that’s when guys like Rasmus, Jon Jay, Craig Allen, Kolten Wong, etc. were becoming pumpkins left and right.

That org has been rotten since the 2013 WS loss

That's awesome man.  Nothing better in life than a father/son day at the ball diamond.  I also need to get to Busch Stadium still - hoping I get to take my boys to it and I hope one day they tell their friends that it was some of the fondest memories they have ❤️

Hopefully you get to and lots of other great experiences too.

At least at the WS with dad we didn't really care who won it was just for the experience

My track record for attending Blue Jays post season games OTOH is a well documented and brutal 0-4 (2015 with my son vs Texas and 2025 with my wife vs Seattle)

Betting wise, would go with Boston or Baltimore since the odds are more favourable than the Jays or Yankees. Cheering and picking the Blue Jays though. Regardless, tough division and should be a dogfight all season long.

Tonight's game being on Netflix means I can actually watch it, so I might be one of the few people who likes MLB's new partnership with Netflix. Less cable, more streaming works for me.

Glad we finally have baseball again. Off season didn't feel as long as usual with the Jays going until literally the last possible day of the season, but this is still the best time of year for sports IMO, so glad we are back.

I also think the WBC helped massively bridge the gap between the offseason and the regular season. Spring Training is such a slog, so getting a legit two weeks of high level competition and entertainment was huge for fans.
