Well, i think we can officially stick a fork in the Max Scherzer deal.

Ends up looking like a pretty bad signing. I suppose you could point to intangibles like coaching the younger guys, but that’s not worth 15million lol.

Max deal is one year. I’m more worried about the multi year 500 million invested on a 1st baseman that can’t get the ball out of the infield.

that contract has not been rewarding to the team and will tie up the hands of the management for years to come

$15.5M for 80 innings of barely above replacement level performance. Verlander would have been the better geezer to sign.

Between Max and negative WAR Hoffman + Santander, plus 70 wRC+ Gimenez, it's actually amazing that the team is where they are when almost all of their off season moves flopped. Without looking it up, I'm guessing Straw has a higher WAR than Tony, Max, Gimenez, Garcia, and Sandlin combined.

It's crazy because we've all seen the home runs we've all seen the deep fly balls game after game and people were just like nah it's good.

People were trying way too hard to convince themselves that Max is something that he's not anymore.

I mean he's not THIS bad. It's just an especially bad inning but he's average at this point.

I'm calling shenanigans to this narrative that literally anyone on this board said home runs weren't a concern for Scherzer. Find even a single post stating something close to this.

I want Scherzer showing the team he clearly deserves game 3 or 4 of the ALDS

So this didn't happen I gather?

And the team too was also aware of players hitting to projections would be fine, what's your point? They're 1st in the AL???

Pretty sure most of us said the opposite, that he looked good aside from the homeruns.

Yes, accurate. Yet who scolded MB's poor heart?

Same deal with Hoffman. I don't think either should make the post season roster. We need to take the best into the post season. I'm worried we may not

Again its gotta be Gausman, Bieber, Yesavage, Bassitt

Hoffman off the postseason roster is a wild request. He’s still probably one of our top 3 relievers
