They are 2-3 on the road trip, not 0-5 LOL. Take a look at most teams' road records, home games are where the best teams shine while remaining around .500 on the road. Sure, the offense looked like s*** the past 3 games but that's happened more than a few times since late May when the team took off. Just part of baseball. You're telling me that if Max doesn't give up 7 runs in the first inning that the Royals are still going to score 13 more in the game? The Jays obviously took their foot off the gas being down so much early and feeling demoralized but tomorrow is another day! You obviously haven't watched much baseball to think this is 100% representative of any kind of long-term spiraling; all teams go through stretches like this. I don't think going .500 over the rest of their 8 games (with 6 of them being home games where the Jays have excelled this season) is in any way overly optimistic. As I said earlier, the Yankees going undefeated for the rest of the season while possible, is entirely unlikely - even against bottom feeders. Bottom line is that the Jays control their own destiny here and hopefully they can get back on the winning track tomorrow and help us forget today's debacle!

Yankees lost and Detroit as well. 

One of the few times a 20-1 loss doesn't hurt you lol. Only concern is Scherzer and how he bounces back in his next start. Looking more like you have to roll with Bassitt as your No 3/4 in the Postseason and possibly Yesavage if Scherzer is burnt out.

Honestly think Scherzer is toast. Maybe his stuff can play out of the bullpen but with his HR numbers that would be a huge risk. Like Hoffman but worse.

Playoff starts should be going to Gaus/Bieber/Bassit, and some combo of Yesavage/Lauer/Berrios

Would be nice to get Santander back and if he could go on a power surge. One thing this lineup is missing and worries me heading into the Postseason. Runs are going to be tougher to come by against elite pitching with this offense. Not going to be easy stringing together a bunch of singles against arms like Fried, Woo, Crochet, Kirby, Brown, Skubal etc. 

Vladdy has had a real solid season to date, but seriously he should be around 30-35 HR at this point in the season, especially considering the money he's being paid. Offensively in the power department, he's having a 2006 Lyle Overbay type of season lol.

Yeah right now would definitely roll with that rotation. I think if Yesavage makes 2 or 3 more starts and looks filthy like he did in his debut, he has to enter the conversation. In the ALDS, likely only need 3 starters anyways. In the CS, would need 4 most likely. Would even put Berrios ahead of Scherzer right now. 

Lauer I think you keep in the pen as a piggy back arm or extra lefty. Hasn't started a game since Aug 27th and even his numbers were slipping in August (5.30 ERA).

I'm not so concerned about hitting, we're #1/#2 lineup in the league. Vlad's been a bit unlucky, his xBA is .320 which is incredible. But yea, I do think a higher launch angle would help him. He's one of the rare hitters with the EV to make it work. Not something you can change mid season though.

They need to ride Bieber and Gausman deep into their starts during the Postseason. If they're dealing, they should be pitching 7+ innings, no questions asked. I don't want to see Schneider getting fancy pulling them in the 5th or 6th innings and then relying on the BP to come in to get more than 9-10 outs. 

My only concern about their hitting is lack of power. Crushing a mistake off Crochet or another top SP or BP arm can make a big difference. Stringing together a bunch of hits for a big inning against one of those arms is less likely. Otherwise, Jays are going to have to rely on their pitching more than you think.

Don't disagree here. IMO this was poor analytics in past playoffs. Our best starters late in the game are better than having to use the backend of our bullpen in subsequent games. Ideally we'd never have to dig deep into our bullpen, esp since we'll have Lauer and Berrios who can go more than 1 IP

You just know there’s gonna be a situation where someone like Nance is brought into a bases loaded situation in the 4th/5th inning. And then they’ll need 4 more innings out of the pen.

Lukes has a 99 wRC+, on the year and against RHP, and an 89 wRC+ (86 vs RHP) since June. He's expected to be the team's #2 hitter in the current setup. I think the best thing that can happen to this team is Bo at DH and George + Tony in the OF corners in Game 1.
