Lauer owes everyone a beer

Schneider too for keeping him in there for so long.  Enough of the 6 man rotation.

Hopefully this gives Lauer some solace, won’t totally blame himself for his worse start.

He can right the ship soon.

Still a better pitcher this season for the Jays over both Gausman and Berrios

Good grief!

I can't recall a Jays closer that made me more nervous than Hoffman does. Every pitch feels like a potential home run. I'm glad he got it done this time though. Jays win!

were you watching when they had BJ Ryan? or Roberto Osuna? How about Ken Giles, Casey Jensen, Billy Koch?

Jordon Romano

there's quite a few but I wanted to bring up some that were around previous editions of the team group and after they won their WS in 90s. The ones I mentioned are just a few. There's at least a 12 more I could name without really researching anything and some that are like "They were on teh Jays and used to close games?"

I think Hoffman is better than Romano

Blowing games down the stretch in a pennant race just raises the stakes so much.

I just heard that Chapman hasn't given up a hit in the last 48 batters. Wow

That is unreal.  Thats gotta be close to the all time record no?

Of course I was, but those guys were all generally pretty good. I'd argue that all of them have been better than Hoffman in a Jays uniform.

Your point would make more sense of you went with Kevin Gregg or Miguel Batista.

Not even close. The record holder is none other than Cy Young. The record for an active player is actually a current Blue Jay.

I feel like the only ones who are comparable to Hoffman as far as anxiety inducing full season closers might be Miguel Batista and Kelvim Escobar

Miguel Batista is in my head as a nightmare.

Kevin Gregg always seemed like he was going to blow it but lucked his way into a decent year.

There were others who were even worse but they didn't last a year. I think Jon Rauch closed for a few months? He sucked.

Hoffman has to be having one of the worst full season closers years in Jays history by ERA and blown saves measures.

Ryan long considered one of worst signings by the Jays. He might have topped 20 saes for them a few times, but NONE of his saves were easy or relaxing to watch. Batista fits in the category of 'I forgot he was a closer for the Jays'. I would have had Gregg but found Giles for nail biting to watch. Heck though he wasn't in role long, the Jays had Tim Crabtree closing games at times. Then guys like Brett Cecil, Tim Mayza, Kelvim Escobar, Mike Timlin, Jeremy Accardo, Frank Francisco and Darren Hall.
