Maybe you haven't realized that our 2 most important starters are Beiber and Scherzer who have already had more than enough rest.  They dont need extra time off to show theyre ready for the playoffs. 

The guys who need the rest are either going to be in the bullpen or off the playoff roster :).

Bieber is just coming back from major surgery and Scherzer has been carefully managing a nerve related thumb issue all season long. I don't see why the club should completely throw caution to the wind and push either of these guys to an unnecessary degree.

They would have gone with the 6 man rotation if thats what they wanted to do.  They already did the hard part by removing Lauer from the rotation for now. 

Things will change if there is an injury or continual underperformance from Bassitt/Berrios imo.

Yeah no need to be careful with the two guys who are the biggest injury risks on the team in Bieber who is coming off TJS and Max whose 41 year old thumb is hanging on by a thread

Gausman (4th most innings in baseball the past 5 years) doesn't need any rest either

There are 3 off days in September so I don't think going to a 6 man rotation is the right move either as you'll have guys thrown off their routine. Maybe you have a Spot start in there if you need it but I kind of agree you don't want to go to a 6man as you don't want to mess with these guys routines when they are performing well.

Yet they have already decided to stick with a 5 man rotation for now so no idea why you're laughing haha.  Like I said, the rest would come at the expense of Scherzer/Bieber taking the mound less.

This is silly, nonsensical criticism.  Lauer is much more accustom to coming out of the pen.  If this mindset was accurate, then they'd move Bassitt to the pen, as he's a FA, while Lauer will likely be in our rotation next year - especially when you can argue Berrios has been better than Bassitt this year.
