Well it starts with Little who, nasty as he can be, is walking way too many guys lately. Leadoff walks in a 1 run game are dangerous. I never felt good about him coming into the game with a one run lead.

Then Hoffman just made a complete mess of things. He's been way too inconsistent since the first month.

Hoffman f***ing sucks.  This is what you get when you take out your starter after 80 pitches

The more pitching changes you make, the more likely you run into someone who doesn't have their good stuff (not to mention gassing the pen).  I really hate the approach.

I've been against it since this management group has taken over.  Its cost us several regular season games and even several playoff games...

It’s likely this would end up with Hoffman in the 9th either way but if Bassett comes out for the 7th no one questions it. There’s just a few too many times where it feels changes are being made for the sake of it and we run into trouble. That said, we have 2runs vs a terrible White Sox team.

Would had it not make sense to PH Giminez with Schneider vs the LHP knowing he can't come out of the game yet? We need base runners at this point with Springer looming to PH. Can't worry about the defensive downgrade. Schneider is a horrible manager, my God.

This is where Yair needs to take Hoffman's spot but this management group lacks testicles.  You always roll with your best...

I’d rather have Hoffman come in with a clean inning then be used as a pitcher with guys on base etc. He’s fine as a closer but he just needs to become more consistent. Far too often his command is off and he completely implodes which not only blows the save but completely loses them the game.

Bullpen needs to be better. Little, Hoffaman and Sandlin all just completely lose their command mid inning.

As good as the pen has been as a whole it still doesn’t inspire much confidence if they were in the postseason.

I agree, this snowballed from taking Bassett out, using YRod for 7th rather than 8th, Little makes a mess and we bring in Hoffman with runners on. It does say something though when your closer isn’t the guy you trust to get that last out of an inning.

You just outlined exactly why hes not fine as a closer.  Jays should have no closer and just go based on best matchups at the time.  Hoffman could use some low leverage innings to build himself back up.

I feel like a clean inning does suit Hoffman better but yeah, this probably proves he ain’t the closer. YRod might be a closer in waiting, he’s shown some of that stuff and mentality but not sure if it’s a certainty every time

Pretty sure majority of Hoffman's blowups this year started with a clean inning.

Point is that you just roll with your best and thats Yrod right now... it could be Yimi later and maybe even Hoffman another time. Being stuck on one of your worst relievers at the moment just because is a pathetic way to go about things in 2025.

Losing 2 outta 3 to the f***ing white Sox shows how unserious you are.

The Yankees got swept by the Angels… just sayin. This is baseball

I agree but this is the Shatkins way. There's no way they'll show weakness on a premier signing or trade, like they refuse to bat Giminez eighth or ninth given the money he'll be making.

You’re right, I guess I meant Hoffman can struggle without bringing him in with multiple runners on. Also YRod might now be the guy after today, don't really have an issue with that - I’ll take his aggressive approach throwing 98.

This whole season has been like this lol. A few terrible losses in a row followed by some unlikely wins just after you wrote them off. Then you believe in the team and they disappoint for a few games.

Team is a mid 80s win team as constructed and will continue to be like this all season unless they can shore up the pitching.

What's more gross is seeing the same guy kept in the closer role when hes been outpitched by several guys...

Its clear you didnt watch any games in April, because he was absolutely elite and  the best reliever in baseball and all you do is complain he sucks.

That being said, its been long enough now where he hasn’t looked good at all and he’s outlived the leash he earned from April. He should be bumped down the pecking order

Yankees did not get swept by the Angels.

But it's true, that's baseball, that's why you don't act like beating teams or especially sweeping teams are some sort of foregone conclusion. We are still very much a flawed team, like most teams around us.

Right, this is a borderline wildcard team unless they make significant improvements at the deadline

This is hard to stomach, losing two out of three at home to the White Sox.

Really is, gut punch today. Hoffman and bullpen were poor and obviously lost us the game but on the other side of the ball, game 1 and 3 are piss poor offensively. Feel like I saw too many 1st and 2nd pitch outs one after the other for 5 innings. It’s a missed opportunity.

Ever consider you might not know as much as management?  Like even for a couple of seconds?

Yes the lack of offensive production cannot be lost in the conversation. Just not good enough.

Wow... maybe none of should have any thoughts and just conclude this management does everything right considering all the banners we have hanging at the Rogers Center...

Can't understand why they didn't leave Yariel in for another inning.  He had a 9 pitch inning and was going to face the bottom of the lineup.  🤷‍♂️
