hanton Old-Timey Member Posted May 11, 2025 Posted May 11, 2025 um....I'd rather watch the roof close
Omar Old-Timey Member Posted May 11, 2025 Posted May 11, 2025 The last time we swept the Mariners in Seattle in a three game series, Kelly Gruber was our third basemen. Great to see production from the bottom of the order. We are now at .500' GO JAYS!! Orgfiller, HomeRunHomer, jaysblue and 7 others 8 2
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted May 11, 2025 Posted May 11, 2025 Good series. SP was good, offense hit some dingers, RP was lockdown. Defense was great. So this is how it feels to click on all cylinders for a few games... BatFlip, Spanky99, max silver and 1 other 4

John Gibbons was great at saving his arms. I think the issue is he knows every win matters. Margin of error for this team is razer thin. So far, he's riding his best and is willing to live and die with his best on the board. Before the recent hiccups, those guys had been nails. Then they were overused. I fully expect he'll try and walk that tight rope balancing act of pushing your best guys and overusing them. It's not like he has several other reliable options (although Little and Fluharty have both really stepped up). God knows if he was being too conservative with his pen use - trying to save guys and that was costing us games - fans would be livid... Unfortunately, it's a tough spot. That said, I LOVED Gibby and thought he managed the pen really well. Always room for improvement, but he's in a tough spot IMO. jaysblue and Spanky99 2

And then there's was that Chapman guy... he's still topping the 3b arm charts in MLB this year

We'll get a more complete picture once Barger has enough throws to qualify. Rolen had the best throwing accuracy of any player I've ever watched, it was amazing how he could dive to snag a screaming liner, hop to his feet and fire a strike to first base every single time. jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted May 12, 2025 Posted May 12, 2025 This Mariners series definitely saved the Jays season IMO. Now back at .500 and only 3 GB from the Yankees. Lets hope they carry this momentum at home! Would be nice to bury the Rays season with this series!

I thought Gibby version 2 was really good at managing the bullpen, although maybe that is just because anyone would look good after the distaste that was John Farrell (I still say the Sox won despite him, not because of him). Oddly enough, I thought Gibby 2.0 looked better because he started listening to the SABR guys/front office more. Schneider seems to struggle because he listens too much at times. jaysblue and Brownie19 2
