But in typical AA fashion he has failed to build any sort of bench whatsoever. I don't know if he just doesn't believe in bench players or what but in his 10+ years an MLB GM that guy has never once had an even average bench. You almost couldn't build worse benches if you tried. It's crazy. Yeah its not that strong of a bench at the moment. Drake Baldwin is their No. 1 prospect. A tandem of Murphy & Baldwin behind the plate is pretty good. Nick Allen was a bench guy but all of a sudden took over the starting shortstop gig since Arcia sucks haha. Kelenic should be a 4th OF when everyone is healthy, and yeah he's still young enough where you hope he can figure things out. Eli White and De La Cruz both suck and are going to hurt you more than help when they're in the starting lineup.

I mean when a lineup is losing three key players like Acuna, Ozuna and Profar. At least the Braves still have a middle-of-the-order with Riley and Olson. You take Vladdy and Santander out of the lineup, looks even worse lol.
Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted April 16, 2025 Posted April 16, 2025 Dammit Green, this was setup so easy for you

Laika Community Moderator Posted April 16, 2025 Posted April 16, 2025 Schwellenbach looked incredible, Cy Young good, and then he suddenly lost his command and some velo. Starting hanging and spiking his breaking balls and missing left to right with his fastball. Maybe he came out too hot. Strider tomorrow. Have to make him work. Don't be too aggressive. Yeah we need to get Strider's pitch count up so he leaves after 5. If we can tag him for a run or two and Bassitt keeps us in it through 5 we've got a great shot. Yimi-Hoffman tandem will be available and with the offday on Thursday we can expect to see them if it's close. Jays24 and jaysblue 2

And the catalyst for the collapse was Kylometres Straw working a walk from down 0-2 in the count. Battled some foul balls, took some close pitches, and really tired the pitcher out. He wasn’t the same after, gave up the HR to Roden and multiple hard hit balls in a row.

Yeah great pitchers duel for the first four innings. Gausman looked great with swing & miss stuff. Great big inning by the Jays in that 5th inning to score 5 runs. Thanks to the long ball, which is what this lineup needs more of! We saw it make a difference tonight. Gave the bullpen some cushion as well. If the Jays were just scratching singles, likely a 4-3 or 3-2 win or game could have been tied. Governator 1
