Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted April 4, 2025 Posted April 4, 2025 Just realized this game is at 3 pm ET, was wondering why the lineup got posted this early. Stangstag 1

Four hours prior to first pitch is not unheard of though. It's also the home opener for the Mets so maybe they will be doing all the intro stuff and needed the list earlier? Used to be that technically the managers didn't have to submit a lineup until a few minutes before gametime to the umpire. Now days they have to set a betting line so they are mandated to submit earlier to accommodate.

I just thought it was a typical 7 pm game and got thrown off by the lineup being made available at 11 am.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted April 4, 2025 Posted April 4, 2025 We need to pound the Mets this series. Their fans have been talking a lot of smack on us this offseason during the Soto and especially Alonso rumors that were flying around
Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted April 4, 2025 Posted April 4, 2025 Alonso was saying he chose the Mets over Jays because of all the uncertainty with the Jays future. He's not wrong but f*** him lol.
Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted April 4, 2025 Posted April 4, 2025 Wagner at 3B, Straw at CF, Santandar at DH would have been my choice but still a solid lineup. Just need Vlad/Santandar to start hitting some damn bombs. John_Havok 1

Ernie is a great defender who helps hide Bo a bit, and Wagner as capable as he's looked is probably fine just DH'ing for now.

Sorry but you're saying Springer is much better than Straw defensively at CF?

No, but Springer in CF is likely our most optimal lineup construction for the time being, at least if he's not out there every single day. Straw essentially replaces Ernie in the lineup, and the latter has a bit more offensive upside with pretty good defense to go along with it, plus we downgrade the 3B defense with Wagner in the field.
Jaysman Verified Member Posted April 4, 2025 Posted April 4, 2025 Let’s keep this ball rolling against a tougher team than the Nats. Let’s go Blue Jays!
glory Old-Timey Member Posted April 4, 2025 Posted April 4, 2025 Game starting at the scheduled time. If this was Toronto's home opener, they wouldn't have even began the pre game festivities yet.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted April 4, 2025 Posted April 4, 2025 Can’t believe there is a conversation of Straw playing over Springer in CF. I mean I enjoyed his 3 hit game as well but let’s relax.
Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted April 4, 2025 Posted April 4, 2025 Pitching matchups line up well this series, with us avoiding Senga and having the advantage in each game. Hopefully we can get off to a hot start in this game.

How do you feel about this opinion after seeing Springer walk towards the ball to give Lindor a double? Defense at CF matters a lot!
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted April 4, 2025 Posted April 4, 2025 Lol if it was the opposite no shot that’s overturned

Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted April 4, 2025 Posted April 4, 2025 Really enjoyed that Gausman-Soto matchup. You could tell that the slider caught him off guard and got in his head, especially on that last swing where he was looking for a breaking pitch.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted April 4, 2025 Posted April 4, 2025 damn that did not look like a homer off the bat
Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted April 4, 2025 Posted April 4, 2025 That's why I wanted Alonso on the team badly :(
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted April 4, 2025 Posted April 4, 2025 yeah thats just a really good piece of hitting. Tip your cap

Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted April 4, 2025 Posted April 4, 2025 I don't understand the curtain call. That's embarrassing for them.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted April 4, 2025 Posted April 4, 2025 Alonso is still a massive pussy for going back to the Mets with his tail between his legs. Entire off-season basically daring him to sign elsewhere. Owner talking smack about him in the media. He should have went anywhere else but went crawling back.
gruber9292 Verified Member Posted April 4, 2025 Posted April 4, 2025 A curtain call for a two run HR in the first inning is beyond embarrassing. Omar 1
Jaysman Verified Member Posted April 4, 2025 Posted April 4, 2025 Right, we need grind and shut this NY crowd and their 1st inning curtain calls, the hell up.
