hanton Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2025 Posted July 31, 2025 This A's team is pretty exciting, if only they took winning seriously.

You hate Ohtani because of the gambling thing and are comparing him to players suspended for domestic violence? (sorry - I'm not trying to attack you today, I swear)
hanton Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2025 Posted July 31, 2025 That's such a good stat exactly what you expect a starting pitcher to do - go at least 6. Also, Woo has 15 Quality Starts that's top 5 in the majors
hanton Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2025 Posted July 31, 2025 A's 5 SEA 4 Just wait until they hear the news.....

(sorry - I'm not trying to attack you today, I swear) I don't hate him, but anyone reasonable person can recognize that placing your friend in jail for your crimes is an awfully despicable thing to do. I didn't mean to compare that with DV, they are just the first bad people in the league that came to mind. Perhaps Class would be a more apt comparison in hindsight. Brownie19 1
hanton Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2025 Posted August 1, 2025 holy s***.......the Reds have just tied the game vs the Braves 11-11. with 8 consecutive hits ending in a 3 run home run by Steer. Braves scored 8 in the top of the 8th, Reds answer with 8 of their own - NOBODY OUT

Very hard to believe Iglesias and Ozuna weren't moved, both on expiring contracts seemed like a no brainer, maybe no offers; Iglesias in particular has'nt been great

Even if Ozuna is a pinch hitter and Iglesias is the 4th or 5th option in someone's pen - they're at least rosterable for a contender I think.
BTS Community Moderator Posted August 1, 2025 Posted August 1, 2025 The Mariners honestly look tremendous hanton and Terminator 2
hanton Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2025 Posted August 1, 2025 Cole Young just hit a home run off Rocker measured at 470' !! That's one of the longest this season - top 5 for sure Dumper again, #42

thatoneguy Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2025 Posted August 1, 2025 Cole Young hit that baseball to a place that I don't think I've ever seen at Safeco. hanton 1
hanton Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2025 Posted August 1, 2025 best rotation in baseball I think

That staff in a short series is as good as anybody’s and plumped up the middle of the order They have a legit case for being the AL’s best team

L54 Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2025 Posted August 1, 2025 Although everybody’s rotation plays up in Seattle hanton 1
hanton Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2025 Posted August 1, 2025 oh no. Butters closing out the game vs the Rangers hurt his ankle coming off the mound as he was heading to cover 1st. Doesn't look good, carting him off

He's expected back soon. Even with the injuries: Wheeler > Gilbert Sanchez > Woo Suarez > Kirby Luzardo = Castillo Walker and Miller both suck. None of those comps are particularly arguable in my view. I think it's the Phillies as the clear best rotation and then we can discuss teams like the Reds, Rangers, Mariners, etc.

But the bench is filled with replacement level guys right now so an injury could really hurt them. I suppose Raley and Robles will be back so they figure that is good enough? The bullpen is probably missing one more fireballer too. They were as aggressive as anyone other than the Padres but they stopped just short. Still a scary team.
mphenhef Verified Member Posted August 1, 2025 Posted August 1, 2025 It is interesting that the two teams with the best rotations also have lackluster defense. Spanky__99 1
