He's a good player and under team control but considering hes a weak hitting elite defender it is seemingly a weird fit for the roster. I wonder if he moves over to SS, which I'm sure he could play pretty well.

His luxury tax hit is $15M. He makes 10M this year, 15 next year and then 23M the last three years. I mean, if he gets back to his 2022 performance it's a steal. Would of rathered got an elite defensive SS and moved Bo to second

He's getting paid 10.5, 15.5 and then 3 years at 23.5. Money still matters to Rogers. He's a 15 mil cap hit but he's make a lot more than that his last 3 years.

This dude has a very strong arm for a second baseman and elite speed on the bases. I would be really surpised if he's not at least an above average defender at short stop and a longer term Bo replacement.

And at 25 he slashed .252/.298/.340 and has been trending downward since '22. I get he could turn it around, the ability is there but there's a chance that we are going to be paying John McDonald 23M a year soon. There's risk there and it's not like we have the offence to fall back on if he keeps trending the way he is
