metafour Verified Member Posted July 28, 2024 Posted July 28, 2024 I know Lesko has been struggleing, but he was a top spec. Good job by the Rays who will probably fix him. Shocked they got Lesko. Lesko is nearly 21 and his results in A+ aren't just bad, they are terrible. The Rays acquired MiLB Nate Pearson. He is still being propped up by draft status hysteria. Its not like he has even been trending up this season; take a look at his last 3 starts: 14 IP, 15 ER, 3 HR, 11 BB, 17 K. You'll hear a lot about his "premium stuff", but he has a 10.21 K/9 against A+ hitters this season. Its not like he is blowing batters away when he otherwise isn't walking guys or giving up HR's (1.42/9 this season). Of course its the Rays so he will be in contention for the Cy Young 3 years from now, but if he wasn't "the best HS pitcher" in the 2022 class he'd be a big nothingburger by now.

Yea, so you just said exactly what I did.
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2024 Posted July 28, 2024 The discrepancy in returns appears much larger than just injury discount to me than to you I suppose Yep. Interesting we gave Green 2/21 after watching him for 5 weeks coming off arm surgery. He of the 4.47 FIP and 7.8/9 K rate. Not sure there was any return from arm injury discount on that option we picked up.
Carlos Danger Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2024 Posted July 28, 2024 Damn, Paredes to the Cubs I hope Triantos isn't going to the Rays. They will just platoon him and tank his fantasy value
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2024 Posted July 28, 2024 Perhaps. I don't pretend to know all those prospect in depth. Maybe Atkins is a f***ing useless douchenozzle who can't do anything right. Or maybe not - maybe he canvased all the buyers and that was the market value for Garcia for various reasons. Or maybe he gets bent over in trade negotiations because he’s a Beta loser. Truth is we really don’t know. The return for Garcia seems fine but it’s definitely underwhelming.
BTS Community Moderator Posted July 28, 2024 Posted July 28, 2024 I don't like that trade for the Rays. Paredes is a lot better than Morel, and was still controllable for 3 more years. Bigge is a reliever and Johnson just a 220year old in high A. Weird trade.
Carlos Danger Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2024 Posted July 28, 2024 Reese Jack it was just DFAd by the Red Sox. I guess we know how they will handle their three catcher depth issue.
Carlos Danger Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2024 Posted July 28, 2024 The Blue Jays could probably pick up Reese for nada. He is an improvement over Severn.

Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted July 29, 2024 Posted July 29, 2024 Can Bo be traded while in the IL? Yes, but he won't be
Governator Community Moderator Posted July 29, 2024 Posted July 29, 2024 Can Bo be traded while in the IL? Trading him at his lowest when we have another year of control just makes no sense.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted July 29, 2024 Posted July 29, 2024 Trading him at his lowest when we have another year of control just makes no sense. Yeah I want Bo gone yesterday but hard to see them getting value when he’s hurt on top of the bad performance. Revisit in the off season, although this front office is more likely to revisit it next July. To me the more obvious trade candidate is IKF. If there is a market for him and they keep him because they want to compete in 2025 then they need their damn heads examined.
Carlos Danger Old-Timey Member Posted July 29, 2024 Posted July 29, 2024 (edited) Quite the few days for Lorenzen. Doesn't get 2 outs on Saturday as the starter of record, comes back in next day Sunday in long relief, then gets traded to the Royals on Monday. Edited July 29, 2024 by Carlos Danger
BTS Community Moderator Posted July 29, 2024 Posted July 29, 2024 Blake Snell rumours picking up. Looks like he's found it, which often means he's about to be a top-10 pitcher in baseball until he gets hurt or the season ends. Probably going to opt out if he finishes strong, so it's likely a pure rental.

Carlos Danger Old-Timey Member Posted July 29, 2024 Posted July 29, 2024 They were saying on the radio today, that a Team acquiring Kikuchi will probably want to make the deal today vs tomorrow. Kuch is lined up to start Wednesday. This way he has travel time and some time to get with the catchers etc, if he is dealt today vs tomorrow.
hanton Old-Timey Member Posted July 29, 2024 Posted July 29, 2024 FWIW [Morosi] The Dodgers are among the teams discussing Yusei Kikuchi trade proposals with the Blue Jays. The Twins, Padres and Astros also are involved. A Kikuchi deal is seen as very likely before 6 pm ET tomorrow.

That wouldn't necessarily mean he'd slide right into that rotation spot for another team. It would depend who they are replacing him with and I imagine it's a #4/5 guy for any contending team.
Carlos Danger Old-Timey Member Posted July 29, 2024 Posted July 29, 2024 (edited) Edman and Kopech go to the Dodgers. I wonder if our buddy Biggio is cut loose once Freemans back. Looks lie Fedde and Tommy Pham going to St. Louis in the deal. One more Kikcuchi suitor off the table (Probably) And CWS get Vargas from the Dodgers as well as other prospects, #17, #23 #26 Dodger's prospects. Done Deal. Edited July 29, 2024 by Carlos Danger
Carlos Danger Old-Timey Member Posted July 29, 2024 Posted July 29, 2024 I like the Quinn Priester for Nick Yorke trade for both teams. I think the Red Sox did well getting a SP with upside if he can be tweaked.
Carlos Danger Old-Timey Member Posted July 29, 2024 Posted July 29, 2024 Flaherty scratched from start and on the move....

Signed Fedde from the KBO and cash in by trading him for a handful of prospects.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted July 29, 2024 Posted July 29, 2024 Reds acquired INF Ty France and cash considerations from the Mariners for minor league C Andruw Salcedo.

Yes it was. I tried to pick Fedde up in Fantasy in the offseason based on his projections/KBO results and it was actually difficult. Solid move by the CWS.
