According to Statcast, Jansen and Vladdy are almost the exact same speed on the basepaths.

sprint speed.....

Vlady is 204 overall, Jansen 295

I recall Jansen specifically stated during spring training that both parties agreed it made more sense to wait and see what type of season he had first. I get the feeling he'd be perfectly willing to sign an extension with the team once they align on value but time will tell.

Max, he has been here 5 seasons.

A. We didn't need to wait for last spring training to do a deal. We could have done it after we dealt Moreno, ideally.

B. What people say to a reporter is not always the real situation. Posturing and deflection. If the sides are talking they may not want to create a news story about it. Negotiations take place behind the scenes.

All the same caveats still applied after Moreno was dealt in that there was simply no way to know what the future held for Jansen. He would be taking a massive risk signing a team friendly deal if he were to finally stay healthy and put up a monster season so an overly team friendly deal was likely not in the cards. Given his extensive injury history it's just as likely as not he suffers some sort of soft tissue injury that causes him to miss several months of the season, so paying him starter type money would have been a big risk for a team that's already reached the upper limits of it's payroll availability.

No he actually pulled two doubles to LF! Then hit another double to CF. And a Single to CF.

Holy s***

Holy s***

Good stuff. Idk why he was trying to hit breaking balls down the RF line for the first 2 months

His best approach has always been hitting fastballs to RF and pulling slow stuff to LF

Bo actually pulled a fastball hard today

Sure it was a 92.5 mph s***** sinker but a pulled FB is a pulled FB

Also hit a fastball to CF. Then pulled two sweepers.

He's back!!!!!

I swear this board needs to take over for the entire Jays management. We've been calling for Schneider and Jansen to be in the top 4 for about a month.

Imagine all the extra at bats that went wasted and could have gone to those 2. Why is common sense so hard for this management group?

Next up... ride whatever jot hand makes itself present and stop basing every damn thing on past statistics. Turner clearly isn't playing at his normal level so you don't need to force him into the lineup when you can reward someone else for good play. Turner will eventually get it going so we can ride him at that point...

Especially Schneider, he really hasn't slumped since his promotion last season - and yet somehow has worked himself into a bench role - until the past few games. A real head shaker

Absolutely ridiculous tbh. Reasons like this are why most of this fanbase has had enough of the way this management team operates. It took a damn KK injury for Schneider to become an everyday player.

Think about all the games that could have ended differently if we just played 2 of our best hitters more and near the top of the order when it was so obvious long ago...

0 for 35 to end last season isn't a slump? He finished the year like 9 for his last 69 with a 36% K rate.

Kudos to DS for making the necessary adjustments, as the league had figured something out on him by the end of last year.

Maybe a game.

Batting order barely matters. It's something that's easily controlled so it should be done right, but it hardly makes a difference.

I respect your opinion but disagree vehemently. If Schneider and Jansen were getting the extra at bats all year, and in Schneider's case not start off as a bench player behind Cavan friggin Biggio, i believe there's several games that could have been impacted. We have been tight games all season where 1 or 2 runs per game changes our fortunes drastically.

Obviously there's no way to know for sure but you should be doing all the basic things in your control to give your team the best chance to win. We clearly have not. Let's hope we can keep building off this.

What do you call Cavan Biggio's career because that's who Schneider was playing behind to start the year. Of course Schneider had a massive slump to end last year but he also had a historic run to begin his career, which needs to be considered as well.

In regards to this year, all he's done is have great at bats this season and it took a KK injury for him to get into THIS lineup everyday. He went from playing behind Biggio to being our leadoff hitter in a matter of a few weeks lol.

Ok my bad, I thought you meant the batting order. Who plays is more important.

Nah he had terrible babip luck down that stretch too. (I haven’t looked, but im assuming)

I specifically remember several games in a row during his “slump” where he was smoking 2-3 line drives for outs each night.

Sure the K rate went up but its not like he was a complete disaster like Bo was through April

Schneider has played in 39 of 46 games this year. He finished last season like 9 for his last 69 with a 36% K rate. Having him start the season in favorable matchups to see how he'd perform is completely reasonable (especially when Biggio was playing great at the start of the year). Davis earned the extra playing time and has been starting ever since. He's now earned his way up to the top of the lineup.

This criticism is unnecessary.

You basically just described xStats, the stat you completely discard anytime mentions them lol

Any criticism of the Blue Jays FO is unnecessary in your opinion.

The question was whether he's been in a slump before. The answer is yes, yes he has. Spin it however you'd like...

I don’t completely discard xStats, just understand they are flawed. xStats don’t take direction into account (pulling the ball vs hitting to dead center) which is why guys like Chapman and Vlad “underperformed” last year.

I think we can all agree a 400ft flyball to left is better than a 400ft flyball to center.

If anything I said was wrong there please check me

The pitching matchup on Monday will feature White Sox righty Erick Fedde (4-0, 2.60) taking on Blue Jays' righty Jose Berrios (4-3, 2.82). The first pitch is scheduled for 3:07 PM EST.

Fedde is playing way over his head so far this season

Let's be the ones to knock him down to earth

Is he though? His trip to Korea seems to have done him a world of good.

This was a perfect situation for an extension. IL stints have inhibited his value which makes him a win win extension candidate. If he was putting up 3-5 WAR a season he would want to max out on the FA market.

With an extension he would have gotten long term financial security, because the Jays know his value better than anyone other team, and we get a 2 War floor, 4 WAR ceiling C (if healthy) at a reasonable AAV on term. Backfilling the trade of our top prospect and C Moreno. Without that we are left with Kirk plus ?

Still can be done, I believe. Should've been done long ago, no doubt.

Back to the bench? God no. Nobody would suggest that. Dude made adjustments and earned his playing time!
