BCZ Verified Member Posted May 20, 2024 Posted May 20, 2024 Wow Turner sucks now lol.... welcome to the club buddy
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2024 Posted May 20, 2024 Turner needs to be a bench/platoon guy going forward IMO. Stop wasting at bats

BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2024 Posted May 20, 2024 This is a great start to this CWS series. Could not have drawn it up any better.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2024 Posted May 20, 2024 IKF down to an 81 wRC+. Turner down to a 91 wRC+, and a wRC+ below 70 against RHP. I know these were the big off season pick ups, but Atkins can't possibly think these two should be playing regularly at this point. This is closer to what IKF actually is, and Turner is 100 so this might be it for him.

Delgalladay Verified Member Posted May 20, 2024 Posted May 20, 2024 Sure would be nice if the bullpen doesn’t turn this into another ass clencher.
Omar Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2024 Author Posted May 20, 2024 Ye of little faith. Isn’t this GDT the new positivity thread?

Omar Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2024 Author Posted May 20, 2024 Schneider sucks.....drop him down in the order.
Omar Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2024 Author Posted May 20, 2024 Jansen = team mvp right now. Wow.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2024 Posted May 20, 2024 Jansen has been such a monster with the bat over the past 2 years pretty much. Just needs to stay healthy (a tall ask)
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2024 Posted May 20, 2024 They are both underperforming their expected stats by quite a bit. They should be fine. Vlad has been underperforming his expected stats for 3 years
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2024 Posted May 20, 2024 Vlad has been underperforming his expected stats for 3 years He's only underperformed it last year and this year. So a year and a 1/3 of a season, not 3. And he might be some sort of exception to xStats because he's got some weird thing where he can't pull the ball in the air with the same exit velocity as he does everything else.
Omar Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2024 Author Posted May 20, 2024 Another win for the good guys! Jansen and Bichette a great day at the plate.
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted May 20, 2024 Posted May 20, 2024 good win, but it's only 1 win. they need to sweep the sox and go on a roll. I hope they can at least make the season interesting
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2024 Posted May 20, 2024 Great play to end it! Yeah that was a really tough play coming in on a liner like that but he made it look easier than he should have

Vlad's a bit below his expected slugging and above his expected average overall it's a wash as his wOBA and xwOBA align almost perfectly over the last month or so.

Turner was sitting at 153 wRC+ at the end of April so there's no need to act like his career is over because he's hit a rough patch.
max silver Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2024 Posted May 20, 2024 He gonna get paid. We should have locked him up after trading Moreno. An extension really didn't make a lot of sense for either side. Jansen would likely be leaving a lot of money on the table if he managed to stay healthy and the team could be taking a pretty big risk giving him starter money if Jansen ended up missing half of the season like he typically does.
L54 Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2024 Posted May 20, 2024 WOW Bo went 4-4 Didn’t get to watch but that’s a great sign Were they all oppo? Lol
max silver Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2024 Posted May 20, 2024 WOW Bo went 4-4 Didn’t get to watch but that’s a great sign Were they all oppo? Lol If I recall correctly Bo hit 3 doubles to the pull side. One of them was a lazy fly ball where the left fielder was placed in the gap and had a long way to run but two of them were legitimately crushed.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2024 Posted May 20, 2024 WOW Bo went 4-4 Didn’t get to watch but that’s a great sign Were they all oppo? Lol No he actually pulled two doubles to LF! Then hit another double to CF. And a Single to CF.

This was a perfect situation for an extension. IL stints have inhibited his value which makes him a win win extension candidate. If he was putting up 3-5 WAR a season he would want to max out on the FA market. With an extension he would have gotten long term financial security, because the Jays know his value better than anyone other team, and we get a 2 War floor, 4 WAR ceiling C (if healthy) at a reasonable AAV on term. Backfilling the trade of our top prospect and C Moreno. Without that we are left with Kirk plus ?

I recall Jansen specifically stated during spring training that both parties agreed it made more sense to wait and see what type of season he had first. I get the feeling he'd be perfectly willing to sign an extension with the team once they align on value but time will tell.
Arjun Nimmala Vancouver Canadians - A+ SS It's been slow going at the start of the season for Nimmala, but on Sunday, he was 3-for-5 with his 3rd home run and 3 RBI. Explore Arjun Nimmala News >
