Masterbather Verified Member Posted May 4, 2024 Posted May 4, 2024 I see at least one Hey man, I come on here to give honest baseball opinions, sometimes people don't like them and they try to make it personal, I'm not going to really ride anyone unless they deserve it based on the way they carry themselves, but at the end of the day I'm happy to sit down, watch a game and have a beer with anyone on this board.
CJ-Freeway Old-Timey Member Posted May 4, 2024 Posted May 4, 2024 Move this team to a city in the states, they will get out of the miseries. Yeah like Miami or Oakland with their top notch attendance figures, right?
Masterbather Verified Member Posted May 4, 2024 Posted May 4, 2024 Well we have the Orioles 7 times in the next four weeks but other than that we have some winnable games ahead. Back for more tomorrow. Watch us completely dominate Baltimore suddenly lol.

BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted May 4, 2024 Posted May 4, 2024 My opinion doesn't fluctuate game to game. When everyone is throwing the team overboard after a 4-6 road trip to start the season I held. The we won like 3 or 4 series in a row. Seemed wise. Must be tough. You are like Atlas Shrugged carrying the weight of the entire depressed fan base around on your shoulders. I don't think too may were freaked about the 4-6 start given we were like one late swing by Schneider away from 3-7. Going 4-6 was found money. 33 games in playing like this getting a little hot in the kitchen for many fans. Can't blame them.
Laika Community Moderator Posted May 4, 2024 Posted May 4, 2024 It's not the record, it's the reasons for the record The pen is suddenly very bad The core hitters are evidently mental midgets

Biggest issue now is that some serious unexpected problems have popped up: - Vlad is somehow worse than last year - Bo completely forgot how to play baseball - The bullpen has kind of fallen apart: Green hurt, Mayza, Cabrera, Swanson all terrible.

We are playing like one of the the worst teams in the league.

To much thinking on every pitch at the plate. Like how the hell are guys taking 90 mph fastballs from corbin right down the middle of the plate and not even swinging. If I was running this team, I'd tell the boys to go out on the town, get drunk, sleep in. No pre game meetings tomorrow. We're not even going over what the pitcher features. See the ball, trust your eyes, hit it.
Masterbather Verified Member Posted May 4, 2024 Posted May 4, 2024 Jays, Raptors and the Leafs after tomorrow could all be in the toilet sadly I'm hopeful with the Leafs. At least they have high end talent that can win if they put it together, granted they need Matthews. I'm happy the Raptors have picked a direction to finally rebuild because they should have done it a couple of years ago. It's more of a retool and they could bounce back fairly quickly actually. It's the Jays that have the most concerned. Everything points to imminent disaster given the contract situations and our minor league lack of depth. We still have some assets and we can help along the rebuild if we don't hang on too long to false hope.
BTS Community Moderator Posted May 4, 2024 Posted May 4, 2024 Seriously, what is going on with Bichette? He's terrible at everything right now, and looks completely checked out.
Omar Old-Timey Member Posted May 4, 2024 Posted May 4, 2024 Seriously, what is going on with Bichette? He's terrible at everything right now, and looks completely checked out. I know it's subjective, but he has this aloof look on his face. Like he hates playing for this team or something.
Key22 Verified Member Posted May 4, 2024 Posted May 4, 2024 The problem with blowing it up is that the only guys worth anything would make this a 50 win team. No one will give you anything for Vladdy or Springer - the latter is now a Vernon Wells albatross (I am still amazed that AA managed to trade Wells - that was maybe his best move as a GM. We are stuck with 3 years and $24 million a year for 2025 and 2026 for a 4th outfielder - he should be in the 9-hole at this point in his career. Vlad Guerrero is a non-tender candidate at this point so just not paying him $24 million or whatever is a win next year. Atkins's best move was not signing him to a 10-year $300m contract the media was clamouring for a few years back - he dodged a big bullet there - so let's credit the Jays brass for being able to see a turd when no one else did. I think the Jays could trade Kikuchi, Berrios, Gauzman, Bassit (assuming he rebounds) along with Romano, Mayza, Garcia - no point in having a closer if you're going to blow it up anyway. Then you could also trade Jansen since he is going to be a free agent. However I'd like to keep him to rebuild with a new young pitching core. Of course, you would also trade Bichette if he gets on track to maximize his return You should be able to get a pretty elite return for that group and also a good chunk of depth. The turnaround may not take that long as by next year Barger/Orelvis Martinez, Varsho/ Schneider/Clement would to go along with 4-5 good players in the haul you get back from the trades. Also, you can replace players in the offseason - if you spend the money you would have spent on Vlad/Bo - with a good deep free agent class you can certainly get a good defensive shortstop and a big bat at first base who can do better than a 0.2 WAR. Also use your financial might and offer Soto a $650 million contract - force the Mets and Yankees to overspend if nothing else. The Jays are going to need another WAMCO if they want to win. The weakest of that group is better than anyone on our team. Oops forgot Turner - the best hitter on the team - any team in a playoff hunt needing a bat would surely like him with all his experience. So you'd probably land a pretty good prospect for him.
BTS Community Moderator Posted May 4, 2024 Posted May 4, 2024 I know it's subjective, but he has this aloof look on his face. Like he hates playing for this team or something. I've thought that all season. He looks checked out. And I haven't seen every game, but I haven't seen any kind of show of frustration at his play. Usually guys would show something when mired in a career worst slump.
Masterbather Verified Member Posted May 4, 2024 Posted May 4, 2024 I know it's subjective, but he has this aloof look on his face. Like he hates playing for this team or something. Well he was frustrated with his contract situation to begin with, probably frustrated with the way he's playing right now and frustrated with the direction of this team in general. I know they've known each other a long time but he has a very different personality than Vlad and I can see him really getting fed up with being around him, especially when things are going poorly. He's been too consistent to give up on, I still think he picks it up as the season goes on. But if there's something more to his slow start that could be an issue.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted May 4, 2024 Author Posted May 4, 2024 After that last game against the Royals Schneider was preaching patience. Now he's dropping the F-bomb in pressers. I understand this game against the Nats might have blown the lid off things but even before the game he was showing a much bigger sense of urgency so something has changed. I wonder how hot his seat is right now.

Hopefully he picks it up soon enough that he's still able to have a typical season by his standards. Because I think this team is going to want him to have real trade value in the offseason.
HomeRunHomer Verified Member Posted May 4, 2024 Posted May 4, 2024 Jays bullpen may be in serious trouble. Yimi Garcia was unavailable because he’s been dealing with a lower back issues since Wednesday.
Masterbather Verified Member Posted May 4, 2024 Posted May 4, 2024 The seat is getting quite warm under his ass. He can only hold in his frustration long enough. He's not likely to get another manager job at this level. It's not really his fault. This s*** has cracks in its foundation. People blame managers too much.
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted May 4, 2024 Posted May 4, 2024 I don't blame Schneider and the coaches for any of this, even if he is unimpressive. Buntoyo was worse in my view. I mean you want to change them again...sure. He is just playing the defective cards he has been given. The FO and the players themselves have much more impact on the overall outcomes.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted May 4, 2024 Author Posted May 4, 2024 John Schneider's job, and perhaps the Jays' entire season, could rest on Alek Manoah this coming Sunday...

Laika Community Moderator Posted May 4, 2024 Posted May 4, 2024 "let him off the hook" what does that even mean? It's not like they left the bases loaded and s*** They just straight up failed to do any damage to Patrick f***ing Corbin Is Schneider mad because his staff and the org suck at modern game prep? He needs to be more direct if he wants to call out the players. Name them. It's unacceptable for the top 3 to combine for 1 hit on Corbin. 1-12 with no walks, against the worst SP in baseball. No barrels.
