Minor league deal?

Hope so

Don't see how he fits or makes sense otherwise

Ya, he had a couple of good years before being horrible last year. Would be a great get on a minor league deal but horrible on a major league deal. We all hold our breathe waiting here lol.

If its a minor league deal its a great signing but I don't get it if its a guarenteed deal. He's old coming off a horrible year, he was decent in 2021/2022 but defensviely he's been bad at 3rd base for a few years now. And he hits LHP a lot better than RHP so can't really see him being better than Schneider/Espinal.

We are going to Frankenstein the living hell out of 3B on our way to an AL East title

I can picture Atkins in the lab, piecing together a 3B monstrosity using Barger's arm, IKF's glove, Orelvis' power, Escobar's experience, Parmesiani's youth....

5-6 fWAR combined for sure from 3B in 2024

If not a minor league deal, fire Atkins.

Davidi just tweeted it was a minor league deal. So thank goodness. I still think JD would have been the better gamble on a minor league deal.

JD probably isn’t wanting to sign a minor league deal…yet.

But, why???

JD didn't have a spring training last year and has dealt with injuries. He set a modern day record for babip low for anyone with over 100 PA. He had a hard hit percentage of 51.3% and an xwoba of .325. He still grades out avg to above avg defensively. I don't think JD has been all that motivated in the past few years. He has 2 young kids. His wife is from Toronto. He wants to play in Toronto. I think the comfort level with Toronto and fighting for playing time that he could still have something to offer. There's no such thing as a bad minor league deal. He may not be willing to entertain one at this time, but you'd think if he wants to play that a minor league deal may be his only route soon enough.

Hi, Josh.

All part of Atkins offseason plans of trying to make Chapman jealous by bluffing with these s***** 3bman signings. Schneider had a quote yesterday about the puzzle at 3b gonna be fun to solve.

So they got to Schneider

You don't typically get to pick your minor league signees

You can have a preference list but for the most part if you find one veteran who thinks there is an opportunity and is willing to spend some time in Buffalo, you have to just sign 'em up. Player picks the team more than anything. I presume.

Can't lose on a minor league deal but I see no light for Eduardo. I don't even think it's a case where he was hurt. He just sucked. Yes, he was productive in 2022 but it is rare to see a statcast page that is "dead blue" like his 2023 page lmao.

His shtick from his good years seems to have been finding barrels despite having middling or even below average raw power. One of these trajectory dudes. Maybe he can teach some of the tweener bats in AAA how to yank more dingers.

Maybe they just need an extra guy to cover innings at 3B this spring lol

Even as a minor league deal this is a s*** move

1. You're an idiot.

2. This move is just insurance against an injury in spring training. Never know when someone is going to roll and ankle on a sprinkler head.
