White Sox

Only explanation

Hi we’d like Kristian Campbell

Best we can do is Kyle Teel

Okay

Posted
Yeah that doesn't seem like a great haul for the White Sox.

Time to trade for Robert.

No kidding

Give them Tiedemann and anybody not named Arjun

LOL @ the Rockies not making a selection in the Rule 5 draft with the second pick. Every other team in the top 7 made selections. Even the Braves, Padres, Brewers and Phillies made selections in the bottom 10. Business as usual for the Rox.

With Spencer Whorewhizz gone we could add a 1B/DH to the mix. If Alonso costs similar to what Santander does then perhaps he could be an option.

Sign him up if his value is low.

Let him split 1B/DH duties with Vlad with the occasional 3B game for Vlad when someone else needs thr DH spot.

Kenny KEn:

White Sox acquiring Garrett Crochet from Red Sox for catcher Kyle Teel, outfielder Braden Montgomery, infielder Chase Meidroth and right-hander Wikelman Gonzalez

I don't think it's that bad of a return for the White Sox aside from the fact that the centerpiece is a f***ing catcher lol. In a vacuum, they received a top 50 prospect in Teel, and ~backend top 100 spect in Montgomery who was picked 12th overall at the most recent draft, a no-power bat to ball guy in Meidroth who is MLB ready and projects decently, and a AA power arm with bad control.

Probably something like a 55 FV, 50 FV, 40+ FV and a 40 FV. If Teel was any other non 1B position this would look like reasonable value for Chicago for two years of Crochet.

I don't even know how a situation that absurd is allowed to continue. The Rockies don't do anything. They keep the same players year after year, and just continue to lose with them. It's very strange.

Can you even imagine being a fan of the team? It has to be SO demoralizing.

It's like an abandoned dynasty fantasy baseball team. They show up once a year to do the NPD and have no idea what they're doing.

Why would you make a C prospect the centrepiece of that trade?

To be fair, Braden Montgomery is highly touted. Teel is further along, but they could very well think Montgomery is the centerpiece of this deal.

12th overall pick in 2024

14th overall pick in 2023

4th round pick in 2022, who hit at every level and had 500+ PA's in at AAA last year at age 22

lottery ticket arm in Gonzalez

For 2 years of Crochet, I don't think it's a "terrible" return. There is a lot of unknowns surrounding Crochet also (along with huge upside).

So Red Sox getting Crochet probably takes them out of the Burnes race probably. That just leaves us and the Giants then?

Not necessarily. Crochet is quite cheap, if they wanted to add another big arm to have a formidable 1-2 with Burnes they would. Just depends on if they're willing to match the price point he'll get.

With a large segment of baseball barely having two nickels to rub together for free agents, the list is going to be short.

I expect the Red Sox to pivot to position players after acquiring Crochet.

Burnes plane is already heading north, don't even worry about it

I'd be down for this. It might not take as much as we think.

Seems like the Jays are out on Corbin Burnes. Looks like it's Giants vs Red Sox even after they got Crochet, per Boras himself? (via Nightengale).

If the rumours of Bregman signing with the Yankees end up being true, Santander and Teo will be the only budget raising free agents left.

Not saying we are going to sign Burnes by any stretch but I'm not sure how much stock we should put into a CamTheRedSoxFan's take on a Bob Nightengale report on something Scott Boras told him.

Can someone tell me the benefit of passing? Wouldn't you just take a swing on someone and hope they're better than you thought and worst case, they just go back to the team and you lose nothing?

I didn’t say it’s a “terrible” return , I questioned why you would take a C prospect back in return of probably the most valuable asset traded this winter

Angel Bastardo me name lol

That's a Grade A+ baseball name the Jays got. I want the full English pronunciation not some dumbass Spanish one like Genesis Cabrera that has me picturing Phil Collins in a sombrero playing maracas.

Just upgrade the damn roster however possible. Screw the babel about "payroll can increase for a unique player" and then start listing all the second tier guys as "unique" after the first tier guys are off the board lol.
