wilko Old-Timey Member Posted July 19, 2024 Posted July 19, 2024 Put some respect on Brent Rooker's name, one of the best hitters in baseball! He's on pace for a monster year. I'm surprised he wasn't an All-Star.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted July 19, 2024 Posted July 19, 2024 He's on pace for a monster year. I'm surprised he wasn't an All-Star. Blue Jays should trade for him next offseason.
Pendleton Old-Timey Member Posted July 19, 2024 Posted July 19, 2024 He's on pace for a monster year. I'm surprised he wasn't an All-Star. I didn't even realize he wasn't, that's an egregious omission, dude has the sixth best wRC+ in baseball (166) behind Judge, Ohtani, Soto, Harper and Henderson.
Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted July 19, 2024 Posted July 19, 2024 Blue Jays should trade for him next offseason. He'll be moved this deadline, top 3 available bat with control.
Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted July 19, 2024 Posted July 19, 2024 This ump is terrible in the Snakes and Cubbie game.
L54 Old-Timey Member Posted July 19, 2024 Posted July 19, 2024 He'll be moved this deadline, top 3 available bat with control. Doubt it. 4 years of control still
Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted July 20, 2024 Posted July 20, 2024 Looking like Mad Max is the O's next victim. That team is so good, and the pundits are saying they're shopping for SP and RP headlining Miller from Oakland, Welp!

Frustrating that this Bo/Vlad core has never had a team that looks as strong as the 2023-24 Os. I hate this sport sometimes
Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted July 21, 2024 Posted July 21, 2024 This Bosox/Dodger game has been top shelf hittin'

jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted July 21, 2024 Posted July 21, 2024 2021 was a pretty damn good team. Would have been interesting to see that team in the Postseason. Definitely the best Jays team we've seen in the Shatkins era.

The Atkins era wasn't bad at all, averaged 90 wins through 20-23, 4 good years. The '21 team had a Pythagorean record of 99 wins. It is too bad those clubs couldn't take advantage, his ship has sailed, especially concerning the farm. He's failed.

They failed to adequately address the pen in time in 21 and it ended up biting them in the ass.

Yeah they had their window of opportunity like you said from 2021 onwards though never full capitalized or took advantage of that competitive window. Not all the fault of Atkins, but he could have done more IMO to address some of the issues on the roster during those years. Just never was able to take that next step. I still think the Jays could be competitive in 2025, but that requires some creativity and a very proactive offseason.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted July 21, 2024 Posted July 21, 2024 I think that team was comparable to the 2015 team as one of the best in baseball. Yeah they had the pitching and offensively were one of the best teams in baseball. Sucks that they failed to adequately address the bullpen in time.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted July 21, 2024 Posted July 21, 2024 2021 was a pretty damn good team. Didn’t even make the playoffs. Not nearly as good as the 2023/24 Os.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted July 21, 2024 Posted July 21, 2024 Big Yordan with the cycle Only cause Julio killed his leg and dropped the ball in the play one post above damn
L54 Old-Timey Member Posted July 22, 2024 Posted July 22, 2024 Only cause Julio killed his leg and dropped the ball in the play one post above damn Well I mean he had to hit a homer, double and single too but yes the triple wasn’t of the traditional variety
L54 Old-Timey Member Posted July 22, 2024 Posted July 22, 2024 Great celebrations today from Taylor Walls and the Cards after Alec Burelson’s bomb
hanton Old-Timey Member Posted July 22, 2024 Posted July 22, 2024 "I trust myself" Fairbanks on a reporters question if he should have walked Judge after the Soto double in the bottom of the ninth. These reporters have no clue - maybe ask it in a different way "what was the plan after the Soto double?"...etc

Especially for an percentages driven team like the Rays
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted July 22, 2024 Posted July 22, 2024 I don’t know any of the context but that’s a fair question. Especially for an percentages driven team like the Rays I'd be curious what the %'s say about putting the tying run on first and bringing the winning run to the plate. That's historically been a baseball "no-no", but obviously with the batter being Judge, that would skew the %'s a lot (getting close to how it would have been skewed back in the day with Bonds).

The best hitters on the planet get a hit 3 out of 10 times. Can’t really discount that fact
