Olerud363 Old-Timey Member Posted April 26, 2024 Posted April 26, 2024 There's no way I am reading all of that but from what I gather are you actually writing Orioles fan fiction? Please seek help Writing Orioles fan fiction is actually a fun idea. Since I hate the Orioles my fan fiction will have bad things happening to them. "Once upon a time there was a team called the Baltimore Orioles. They developed an all-star catcher who hit like Edgar Martinez (.320 .420 .540) through his first 500 PAs. He went to the all star game with his friend an all star pitcher. But then he lost his hitting ability and became a .230 .300 .330 hitter... and his friend lost it to. And they both struggled with severe obesity. And the Orioles fans were so disappointed they started writing unhinged diatribes and bickering with each other on their message board. No one was happy and no one was healthy in Oriole land" (This was a work of Orioles fan fiction and is not based on reality, in reality the Orioles catcher is fit, happy and performing well and their fan base is happy and healthy)

Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted April 26, 2024 Posted April 26, 2024 Baseball God's taketh and giveth, all in the same play. Hah! They scored that a hit? lol Miller is pure filth.
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted April 26, 2024 Posted April 26, 2024 I just came to give people a heads up, must watch tv, this guy. That kid reminds me of when Glasnow bloomed for the Rays after coming over in the PITT deal. Giant stud throwing filth that is virtually unhittable. Or Thor when he came up with the Mets (sigh). Its what we all dreamed Nate would be.
Carlos Danger Old-Timey Member Posted April 26, 2024 Posted April 26, 2024 They ranked top 5 FO's, this is fake news, folks. How’s it fake news Spank? There are more than 5 FOs and 40 execs.
Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted April 26, 2024 Posted April 26, 2024 How’s it fake news Spank? There are more than 5 FOs and 40 execs. Jays aren't a top 5 front office, likely somewhere in the 8-10 range, you think they're a top 5? I can see why they were omitted from the conversation. It's not hard CD.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted April 26, 2024 Posted April 26, 2024 How’s it fake news Spank? There are more than 5 FOs and 40 execs. You said they aren't highly thought of by their peers. What you really mean, is they weren't voted to be a Top 5 FO by 40 random peers (which I've never seen anyone claim or suggest). What you said was misleading. That's what Spanky is saying.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted April 26, 2024 Posted April 26, 2024 Forrest Whitley didn't have a great first appearance, but he's throwing 98.1 MPH...
Carlos Danger Old-Timey Member Posted April 26, 2024 Posted April 26, 2024 You said they aren't highly thought of by their peers. What you really mean, is they weren't voted to be a Top 5 FO by 40 random peers (which I've never seen anyone claim or suggest). What you said was misleading. That's what Spanky is saying. There are 16 Team FOs that received votes on there. The Blue Jays did not get one, not one. There are 30 teams. 40 execs means more than one per team in some cases in aggregate. What are you guys going on about top 5 for ....? As much as I do not like the Athletic sometimes, they are a reputable source. This is not a fan or media vote. This is a peer vote. It says something...... What this tells me, is that it is not just the "haters'' on message boards or negative Nancy who question the FOs decisions and strategies. It is also industry peers.
Carlos Danger Old-Timey Member Posted April 26, 2024 Posted April 26, 2024 This part makes it even worse, since some teams do have ownership issues that curtail the FO. I am not aware of ownership curtailing the Jays lateley. We are thought to be in this company. Did not receive votes: Red Sox, Blue Jays, Royals, White Sox, Athletics, Angels, Nationals, Marlins, Cardinals, Padres, Rockies, Giants, Pirates, Cubs One executive summed up the ephemeral nature of this endeavor: “Is Oakland terrible? Five years ago, they were top five. Is that them, or what they’re dealing with?” Indeed, for many of the clubs that did not merit consideration, it is hard to separate the front office from the sway held by ownership. One of the primary responsibilities of a chief baseball executive is managing upward — getting your owner to buy into, both literally and figuratively, your vision for how to run a club. Some owners are more difficult to sway than others.
Olerud363 Old-Timey Member Posted April 26, 2024 Posted April 26, 2024 I know a lot of people are getting annoyed at Orioles reality. I hate the Orioles too, so I am as annoyed as anyone. Terminator brought up a great idea though, 'Orioles fan fiction'. Since we all hate the Orioles, Orioles fan fiction, will have bad things happening to the Orioles. "Once upon a time there was a team called the Baltimore Orioles. Once upon a time there was a great player from a far away land who was the best hitter and the best pitcher. He was both. And the twitter trade rumors told the Orioles fans they had landed this great player. And then the certified reporters told the Orioles fans they had landed this great player. The Oriole fans in Oriole land had never been happier and there was great cheer for a few hours until it turned out it was fake and the Orioles signed Daniel Vogelbach and Isiah Kiner-Falefa instead. This mental scar caused great damage to the Orioles fanbase and they took to writing unhinged diatribes and fighting with each other on their message board." Note the above is a work of fiction. In reality the Orioles had a such a strong farm system they did partake in a fake bid for the great player from a far away land, and they were so deep in young players they had no need to sign Isiah Kiner Falefa or Daniel Vogelbach. The Oriole fans do not bicker with each other and in reality are mentally in a very good place. This has been Orioles fan fiction.
Olerud363 Old-Timey Member Posted April 26, 2024 Posted April 26, 2024 Special request from Commissioner of baseball Rob Manfred It is come to my attention that some Toronto fans have a bad attitude. As commissioner my job is to make sure the game is successful, and a successful game needs happy and healthy fans. I personally do not have attachment to any particular team and every fanbases happiness is my happiness. When Shohei Ohtani hits a deep drive I share the Dodger fan's joy. When the Baltimore Orioles develop an allstar at every position I share the Orioles fan's joy. When Bobby Witt Jr. develops as expected I share the Kansas City fan's joy. When the NY Yankees have their 33rd straight winning season and 29/33 years in the playoffs I share their joy. As commissioner I cannot stand by and watch one selfish fanbase have such a bad attitude. I know, your hero, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. has failed and cannot be saved, but please understand, we learned much from Vladimir Guerrero Jr.s collapse, and have institured policies so that no other fanbase will ever face such a dissapointment. The joy the Baltimore fans will experience the next 10 years, as each of their players develops not only to expectations but to exceed expectations will be in part from lessons we have learned From Guerrero, Kirk, Manoah, and to a degree Bo Bichette's failures. When Bobby Witt does 40/40 it will be in part to due these lessons learned as well. So enough with your poor attitude, be happy that your troubles gave us important data points that will bring joy to the other 29 fan bases.
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted April 26, 2024 Posted April 26, 2024 Reading your posts Olerud363 is like looking at that old comic strip series "The Far Side". I can't get through them all, but I do like it on the Board and I like that you have that same long history with our team. (Don't mind Dick Pole, I think he thinks most people are insane or useless, and thats why I like him )
BTS Community Moderator Posted April 26, 2024 Posted April 26, 2024 Holliday back to AAA. Holliday busting would be fantastic for baseball
wilko Old-Timey Member Posted April 26, 2024 Posted April 26, 2024 Holliday busting would be fantastic for baseball Seems like he was rushed.. called up just after 10 games.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted April 26, 2024 Posted April 26, 2024 Holliday back to AAA. Good I hope he gets the yips from this experience and busts completely
Laika Community Moderator Posted April 26, 2024 Posted April 26, 2024 I am in one dynasty league where I have Holliday and Chourio. Never have I ever owned or promoted prospects like this in dynasty baseball, #1 prospect types. Cannot say I am enjoying the experience. .639 OPS for Churro... at least his HR/SB count is helpful.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted April 26, 2024 Posted April 26, 2024 39 AB’s but he struck out in 18 of them. They probably should have kept him in AAA for all of April if they we’re gonna pull the plug that quick. But he did look quite bad.
MikeM3 Verified Member Posted April 26, 2024 Posted April 26, 2024 Seems like he was rushed.. called up just after 10 games. He's been rushed every level. Just getting by on babip. He looks like a 14 year old and puts his whole body into his swing because he's not anywhere close to matured physically.
Ray Verified Member Posted April 26, 2024 Posted April 26, 2024 Ho hum game for Elly. 3-5 with a double and 3 SB, now 15 on the year. He’s on an 11 WAR pace lol
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted April 26, 2024 Posted April 26, 2024 He’s on an 11 WAR pace lol Elly is tied with Varsho right now....so that means Varsho is ALSO on pace for 11 WAR
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted April 26, 2024 Posted April 26, 2024 39 AB’s but he struck out in 18 of them. They probably should have kept him in AAA for all of April if they we’re gonna pull the plug that quick. But he did look quite bad. This is CERTAINLY circumstantial evidence, but the spring training game I watched Holliday, he was overswinging at everything and looked awful. Obviously I have a trained eye of a 30 year scout, but I didn't think he looked ready myself.
Josh Kasevich Buffalo Bisons - AAA SS Kasevich tallied 3 hits on Thursday including his 17th double. He's now hitting .303 on the season. Explore Josh Kasevich News >
