that's probably what she should have done, they told her if she didn't give it back they wouldn't authenticate the ball but you're right there's video of it. She even asked to meet him and they ssaid it wasn't possible,

 

 

The part that stuck out to me was Ohtani lying about meeting with her in his postgame interview.

The average person is going to have no idea of the value of that ball and they got her alone and pressured her into giving it up for 1/10th what it's worth.

Read about the Ohtani ball on Reddit. There's a weird subset of fans who think you should give any caught ball back for a handshake and a signed jersey, and that its unethical to ask for market value from the 100x millionaire who wants it.

 

Ohtani should cut that woman a proper cheque.

From many Japanese speaking people who watched the interview it was misinterpreted and in their language could mean someone met with them.

1 misunderstanding and we can give him the benefit of the doubt (initial leading us on to sign here), but now it’s 3 total scandals including the gambling and the lying. Not a good look. Being dishonourable might fly in Japan where honour is non existent, but not in America

The moment they said Ohtani couldn't meet with her would have been the moment I walked out. If it isn't important enough for him to meet with a plebe it isn't important enough for him to have in my opinion.

Was it Ohtani who wanted the ball? Is it typical for stars to want their first HR ball with a new team? Like would Betts have kept his first LAD Hr ball? It just doesn't seem very significant to me. I can't imagine who would pay $100K for that ball myself. A couple of signed bats, jerseys, balls and meeting Ohtani probably would have felt like fair compensation if I was put on the spot.

Why would you give up a ball worth thousands to meet with a guy who is on the verge of being banned from the league?

 

I would want to have that thing on eBay that night while it’s still worth something. Buddy is awful close to falling off completely.

Hey guys, does anyone know of a good alternative stats website compared to Fangraphs? Fangraphs has become almost entirely unusable for me, the amount of adds they're pumping on there is beyond satire at this point. The site will hardly work with Adblock anymore.

 

Any help would be much appreciated.

I can't really accept that a translator for a $700 million man can't do their job properly. As someone else said, he doesn't really get the benefit of the doubt after being caught laying to the media/fans such a short time ago.
