L54 Old-Timey Member Posted December 8, 2023 Posted December 8, 2023 It seems that he was innocent of the initial incident that got him into trouble but apparently MLB had several other potential victims that came forward with similar claims. The arbitrator that heard the case didn't completely eliminate the suspension/exonerate Bauer and just reduced the length of it so it stands to reason that Bauer made have performed other misdeeds sufficient to warrant a still really lengthy suspension even after the reduction is factored in. I suspect we will never know the full story here given the secrecy that has surrounded the process. Potential victims Potential
BTS Community Moderator Posted December 8, 2023 Posted December 8, 2023 I'm banning anyone who stains this beautiful thread with re-litigation of the Bauer debacle.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted December 8, 2023 Posted December 8, 2023 If we sign Ohtani, you will see people like me shut up about the front office. That is, until we go on a 5 game losing streak lol. Highly doubt that. You'll be bitching again by Feb.
Jayzfan79 Verified Member Posted December 8, 2023 Posted December 8, 2023 so when Ohtani jumps the border to play in Canada....how much to think Yama comes to the Jays to play with his fellow countrymen?
RobinThicc Verified Member Posted December 8, 2023 Posted December 8, 2023 The Rahm stuff has been rumored for weeks Oh okay that makes more sense.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted December 8, 2023 Posted December 8, 2023 Someone with a fair number of followers posted 12/596 last night I thought I was hearing 12/614 Most likely with opt-outs too. Would make a lot of sense (for Ohtani) if the Jays offered a contract with an opt-out after 2025. Lines up with Bo/Vlad possibly leaving and gives Ohtani a year to prove his arm is good
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted December 8, 2023 Posted December 8, 2023 The Rahm stuff has been rumored for weeks He called it 3 months before it came out, bro.

Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted December 8, 2023 Posted December 8, 2023 I think it's honestly kind of ******** to have an opt-out with a 600M guarantee Agreed... hearing the details of the contract will be interesting but first things first lol
connorp Old-Timey Member Posted December 8, 2023 Posted December 8, 2023 I think it's honestly kind of ******** to have an opt-out with a 600M guarantee In his defense, it may be important to him after LAA situation.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted December 8, 2023 Posted December 8, 2023 I think it's honestly kind of ******** to have an opt-out with a 600M guarantee Oh I agree, seems insane to think he could get MORE by opting out. But maybe it gives him a chance to feel less pressure to select a location to tie himself down to for the next decade.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted December 8, 2023 Posted December 8, 2023 In his defense, it may be important to him after LAA situation. Yeah dude would've opted out several years ago if he could have haha
Masterbather Verified Member Posted December 8, 2023 Posted December 8, 2023 I think it's honestly kind of ******** to have an opt-out with a 600M guarantee The first thing I thought after he injured his arm is that he's going to want an opt out after 2 or 3 years. Given the amount of money, that might not end up happening but if he's going to get opt outs, there need to be some clauses in there to benefit the team signing him as well.

TheHurl Site Manager Posted December 8, 2023 Posted December 8, 2023 The Rahm stuff has been rumored for weeks He broke it November 2nd. I know I first heard it Nov 19th cause P2F and I talked about it that day
jaysthebest Verified Member Posted December 8, 2023 Posted December 8, 2023 If Ohtani is not on that charter flight, it would be hilarious.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted December 8, 2023 Posted December 8, 2023 Do you guys have a Nobu in Toronto yet? Better hurry up and open one so you can check that box. Restaurant and Hotel
TheHurl Site Manager Posted December 8, 2023 Posted December 8, 2023 Someone go collect the idiot Jays fans who showed up (with signs) at Pearson already.
Marew Verified Member Posted December 8, 2023 Posted December 8, 2023 No way an opt out would be in a contract 600m agree. His value just can’t realistically be more than 60-70m for a year long term in today’s market. He is lucky he’s getting 600 with the arm questionable. That said, I will be very upset if he doesn’t average a 1.0 OPS over the first 5 years. He is setting expectations high.

bones10 Old-Timey Member Posted December 8, 2023 Posted December 8, 2023 Is that for sure his plane? Why else would he be coming here if so, seems like it’s a guarantee

This very well could still just be part of the courting process and a proposal still hasn't happened
