If they Jays sign Ohtani, they will have built up incredible amounts of public goodwill overnight. Like, franchie-altering. Fair or not, anyone who thinks they'd follow that up by bringing in Trevor Bauer, and exposing themselves to the negative attention that would come with it, is not paying attention.

It seems that he was innocent of the initial incident that got him into trouble but apparently MLB had several other potential victims that came forward with similar claims. The arbitrator that heard the case didn't completely eliminate the suspension/exonerate Bauer and just reduced the length of it so it stands to reason that Bauer made have performed other misdeeds sufficient to warrant a still really lengthy suspension even after the reduction is factored in. I suspect we will never know the full story here given the secrecy that has surrounded the process.
